  • Patent number: 6341168
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying a representative image corresponding to a shot of a duration within a specified range included in a plurality of shots of a moving image. The moving image includes a plurality of successive frames each having an image and each shot includes a plurality of the successive frames. In the invention a plurality of shot change points are sequentially detected from the moving image. The shot change points represent points between a pair of frames where images of a preceding shot and images of a succeeding shot have changed. Thereafter a detection is performed to determine whether a duration of a shot between a preceding shot change point and a succeeding shot change point is within the specified range. A representative image corresponding to the shot having a duration within the specified range is displayed along with duration time information representing the duration of the shot.

  • Patent number: 6321024
Abstract: Only a video cut (containing a frame) designated by a user is automatically and correctly extracted directly from a video image under playing operation at high speed. A judgement is made as to whether or not the frame of the video image is designated by the user. When such a user designation is made, a detection is made of a change point in the video cut containing this designated frame (reverse playing direction, forward playing direction). Under such a condition that a frame image immediately before this change point is displayed, the playing operation of the video image is brought into a pause state. Accordingly, only the video cut desired by the user can be extracted during a single playing operation of the video image, and the video image can be edited in a high efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20010024513
Abstract: An economical surveillance apparatus robust to an environmental change includes an input unit for inputting images in a time series, a background image memory unit for storing a plurality of input images, a difference image memory unit for calculating and storing difference degree between a plurality of background images of the background image memory unit and an image inputted afresh, and a judging unit for judging an existence/absence of an invading object by utilizing the value of the difference degree of the difference image memory unit. This surveillance apparatus can automatically register a plurality of background images from a camera image. Since the background images that are no longer used are automatically erased, the drop of detection speed and detection sensitivity can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6256419
Abstract: A system for detecting a point of change between video shots from a video having a plurality of succeeding frames. The system includes video playback apparatus for playing a video chronologically one frame at a time, and a display for displaying the video. The a processing device for calculating a feature quantity of video image data for each frame, determining a first correlation coefficient between a feature quantity of a current frame and a feature quantity calculated from an immediately preceding frame and determining a second correlation coefficient between the feature quantity of the current frame and a feature quantity of at least two frames preceding the current frame, and indicating on the display a point of change between video shots when the first correlation coefficient and the second correlation coefficient are out of predetermined allowable ranges.

  • Patent number: 6191707
Abstract: In order to reduce the load on the operator in monitoring a moving object in the moving picture signal supplied from the imaging device, the signal is displayed in one region of the display device. The moving route of the moving object which has entered the view of the imaging device is extracted, based on the signal. The first image data showing the image of a moving route of an extracted moving object is generated, and the second image data showing the image of the moving object is generated based on the signal. The overlapped image of the image of the moving route and the image of the moving object is displayed in another region of the display device together with the extraction time of the image of the moving object. The processing above is repeated to other moving objects which enter the view later on. The overlapped images for different moving images thus extracted are displayed adjacent to each other in the region.

  • Patent number: 5945976
Abstract: This invention relates to a graphic data processing system, and is more particularly directed to provide an easy-to-operate system and displaying method thereof, for generating scene data from map data and retrieving and displaying attributes containing guide information of ground objects in a scene. In the first place, when a visual point is directed from above to below, a planar map is displayed, and as the visual point shifts in a horizontal direction, a three-dimensional scene image is generated and displayed from a map. Secondly, a three-dimensional window is displayed in a display, and graphic data is displayed inside the window.

  • Patent number: 5862508
Abstract: A moving object is detected from a movie. The actual movie has a complicated background. In order to detect the moving object, the invention is constructed to comprise, in addition to means 500 for inputting the movie, and display 300 for outputting the processed result: means 700 for judging the interval which is predicted to belong to the background as to a pixel region in the movie; means 800 for extracting the moving object; and means 900 for calculating the moving direction and velocity of the moving object. Thanks to the above-specified construction, even under the complicated background in which not only the change in the illumination condition but also the structure change will occur, the presence of the structure change of the background can be judged to detect/extract the moving object on real time. Moreover, the moving direction and velocity of the moving object can also be calculated.

  • Patent number: 5721692
Abstract: A moving object is detected from a movie which has a complicated background. In order to detect the moving object, there is provided a unit for inputting the movie, a display unit for outputting a processed result, a unit for judging an interval which is predicted to belong to the background as part of a pixel region in the movie, a unit for extracting the moving object and a unit for calculating the moving direction and velocity of the moving object. Even with a complicated background in which not only a change in illumination condition, but also a change in structure occurs, the presence of the structure change of the background can be determined so as to detect and/or extract the moving object in real time. Additionally, the moving direction and velocity of the moving object can be determined.

  • Patent number: 5544052
Abstract: In a digital cartographic system for processing geographic information, a map projection of a map is converted. The map projection transformation is carried out with a coordinate value in which longitude and latitude are set to a center by way of a linear interpolation so as to simplify a calculation required for transforming the map projection, and also not depending upon a map projection to be converted. Also, after the transformation process operation, a reference line such as longitude/latitude and an equiangular line is superposition-displayed/overlapping-displayed in order to assist an analysis, in response to a demand. In accordance with the present invention, a map can be shown with correctness of a distance and correctness of azimuth by performing various sorts of map-projection transformation, the digital cartographic system can support an intuitive idea of a user, and also can improve an information representation function of this digital cartographic system.

  • Patent number: 5513110
Abstract: A navigation system in which a more preferable path can be quickly searched for by using map data in a form easy of maintenance, and which is well suited for installation on a vehicle. A map data memory unit stores therein the road data of roads which belong to management areas, for each of the management areas of predetermined extent and shape and for each of hierarchies corresponding to sorts of the roads. A path search/guidance control unit searches for the path which extends from a current point decided by a positioning unit, to a destination point set by a set input unit.
