  • Patent number: 4328937
Abstract: In a fishing spinning reel of the type wherein a rotor is rotated by a handle through a main drag mechanism and a drag shaft, a boss of the handle is connected through screw threads to a sleeve which supports the main drag mechanism, the drag shaft extends through the sleeve, and a drag knob is connected to one end of the drag shaft, there is provided an auxiliary drag mechanism interposed between the handle bars and the drag knob. The auxiliary drag mechanism comprises an annular ring interposed between the drag knob and the handle boss and a torque spring interposed between the annular ring and the handle boss so that when the handle is rotated in one direction the torque spring is compressed against the drag knob. The sleeve is provided with multiple threads and a polygonal portion adjacent the multiple threads, and the annular ring is provided with a polygonal opening to receive the polygonal portion.

  • Patent number: 4288046
Abstract: A spinning reel having anti-reversal mechanism of simple and improved construction. The anti-reversal mechanism thereby provides a reversal rotation of a rotor because of the engagement between a ratchet gear and a stop pawl. This engagement can be released by a switching means which includes a depressing portion, position setting portion, shaft portion and a thumb lever, these being integrally formed. The switching means can be assembled to the reel body by inserting it from outside of the reel body.

  • Patent number: 4258731
Abstract: A heating type hair waving appliance includes a bonnet in which the hairline area of the head of a patron is inserted and a plurality of infrared radiation lamps serving as a source of heat for heating the hairline area. A controller is implemented with a microcomputer semiconductor integrated circuit for receiving inputs applied via an input keyboard and placing the plurality of the infrared lamps into predetermined conditions. A solid state display provides a display of the operative state of the infrared lamps and an ultrasonic type atomizer is provided for generating moisture-laden mist which in turn is guided into the interior of the bonnet.

  • Patent number: 4259566
Abstract: A hair waving appliance includes a head receiving and confining assembly provided with a plurality of independently controllable electric heaters for heating different hairline areas of the head received therein. A plurality of temperature sensing probes, each associated with a respective one of the independently controllable heaters, are connected to a temperature control means for controlling the heating of the respective heaters. Each probe includes a temperature sensitive element enclosed in a spherical shell carried at the end of an elongated spring-biased cord or flexible pipe. The probes extend into the interior of the head receiving and confining assembly and are arranged to adaptably contact the hair on the respective portions of the head. The spherical members have a size at least equal to the size of the curler rods used to curl the hair. The appliance includes means for generating moisture-laden air at room temperature to impart moisture to the hair being treated.

  • Patent number: 4256127
Abstract: A hair waving appliance of the type having a hood assembly includes a plurality of independently controllable heating means such as infrared heaters or lamps valves each disposed to heat a different hairline area of the head of a patron. A temperature control and a timer are provided for individual ones of the heating elements for controlling a temperature and a period of heating independently of one another. In addition, an ultrasonic atomizer is provided within the head supporting assembly to generate moisture-laden air mist, imparting longer-lasting curl retention. A heating temperature or a period of heating can be determined under the control of at least either the temperature control or the timer depending upon the hair nature of the hairline areas and personal taste of the patron.

  • Patent number: 4196871
Abstract: An L-shaped brake control lever 8 is pivotally disposed on a side frame spacing post 4' coaxial with a sleeve 5 on which the supporting arms 7 for a line tension sensing roller 6 are pivotally mounted, one arm 8' of the lever being coupled to a roller arm 7 for pivotal movement therewith. The other lever arm 8" is adjustably spring biased and is coupled to the free end of a pivotally mounted brake lever bearing a frictional brake shoe disposed adjacent the inner surface of a reel spool flange. When the unwinding fishing line is under tension, it lifts the roller 6 which, through the lever and arm linkage coupled thereto, releases the spool brake against the force of the biasing spring. When the line tension is reduced, however, the spool brake is automatically re-engaged to thereby prevent backlashing.
