  • Patent number: 7227190
Abstract: A purple LED is fixed onto lead frames in the cup of a frame using a mount, and the purple LED is sealed by filling a sealant of transparent resin into the cup. Red/green/blue phosphors that absorb a light emitted by the purple LED and emit lights having red, green, blue wavelengths different from the wavelength of this absorbed light are mixed into the sealant. A yellow phosphor that absorbs a light emitted by the purple LED and emits a light having a yellow wavelength different from the wavelength of this absorbed light is additionally mixed into the sealant in such a white light emitting device.

  • Patent number: 6953265
Abstract: A light source device has a light shielding member having an aperture, a light source arranged on one side of the light shielding member, and a converging member arranged relatively with respect to the light source and the light source to thereby converge light emitted from the light source in the aperture or in a vicinity of the aperture. Another type of light source device has a single light source, and a converging member for converging light from the light source to thereby distribute the light to at least two points. Still another type of light source device has a light source, and a reflecting mirror arranged to enclose a side of a light emission direction of the light source, the reflecting mirror reflecting light emitted from the light source in a direction except the light source so that the light is radiated outside.

  • Patent number: 6730942
Abstract: A sealing member for a short-wavelength light emitting element comprises a main agent and a curing agent. The main agent comprises a first component of an alicyclic epoxy produced by hydrogenating an aromatic epoxy, preferably a bisphenol A epoxy, and a second component of an alicyclic epoxy having a lower molecular weight than the first component. The mixing amount of the second component is not less than 10% by weight and less than 30% by weight based on the main agent.

  • Patent number: 6713877
Abstract: In a light-emitting diode, a substantially square flip chip is placed on a substantially square sub-mount at a position and posture which are obtained through superposition of a center point and center axis of the flip chip on a center point and center axis of the sub-mount and subsequent rotation of the flip chip about the center points by approximately 45°. Therefore, triangular exposed regions are formed on the sub-mount, in which two lead electrodes for the flip chip can be formed. As a result, the flip chip can be placed on a lead frame such that the center axis of the flip chip coincides with the center axis of a parabola of the lead frame. Further, the sub-mount is formed of a semiconductor substrate, and a diode for over-voltage protection is formed within the semiconductor substrate. Therefore, breakage of the light-emitting diode due to excessive voltage can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 5815072
Abstract: A vehicle display device such as a speed meter including indicators, many segments illuminated in two or more colors by plural LEDs and an indicator control circuit. The indicators dispose the segments so as to display a variable such as a car speed in a bar graph or in the form of a number. The indicator control circuit displays the variable by controlling the lighting of the LEDs and changes an emitted light color of indication based on a fixed color changing reference value in accordance with a value of the variable. The control circuit controls a duty ratio of a supply current or a current value in a predetermined set value range determined on the basis of the color changing reference value. Namely, brightness of the emitted light color before a color change is gradually decreased, while brightness of the emitted light color after the color change is gradually increased.

  • Patent number: 5741058
Abstract: An LED display device having an LED array for a meter on a printed circuit board. A diffusing radiation lens array is disposed facing the LED array. A cover lens is overlapped on the lens array. The cover lens transmits LED light which passed through the lens array. The cover lens has at least a scale mark, a character and a sign. A sheet is interposed between the lens array and the cover lens. The sheet limits radiation of predetermined diffused light from the lens array while partially transmitting the diffused light. The cover lens has a scale mark dent and a character dent formed on its rear interior surface, and displays the scale mark and character by means of an LED light from another LED array.
