  • Patent number: 4946006
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an elevator system for use in a multi-story building, the building having a vertical space formed therein. The elevator system comprises a stationary framework adapted to be mounted in the space, the framework comprising frame members dividing the vertical space into a plurality of angularly spaced sectors. At least one elevator cage is mounted each of the sectors. At least one turntable is rotatably mounted in the space adjacent the stationary framework, the turntable being located to receive a cage from the stationary framework and rotate the cage from one of the sectors to another of the sectors. A power drive on the frame members, the turntable and on each cage is provided for moving each cage in the vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 4919002
Abstract: A stepless speed change apparatus includes first and second parallel shafts, each carrying a plurality of discs disposed in succession along the shaft, the discs on the first shaft have progressively increasing diameters along one axial direction and the discs on the second shaft have progressively decreasing diameters in that direction, an intermediate shaft is disposed at an angle to a plane containing the axes of the first and second shafts, the intermediate shaft carries intermediate discs each of which is aligned radially with one of the discs on the first shaft and one of the discs on the second shaft, the intermediate shaft can be shifted in a direction perpendicular to the plane containing the axes of the first and second shafts so that as the intermediate shaft is moved the intermediate discs are, in turn, brought into engagement with respective pairs of discs on the first and second shafts at peripheral portions of the discs.

  • Patent number: 4765191
Abstract: A torque detector comprising a first shaft and a second shaft, which are journalled in axially aligned and fixed relation with each other. A movable shaft is interposed between and axially aligned with the first and second shafts, the movable shaft being in axially slidable engagement with the first shaft and rotatable with the first shaft. The movable shaft is in rotatable threaded engagement with the second shaft, and springs are interposed between the movable and second shafts to resist and limit the axial movement and rotation of the removable shaft relative to said second shaft, whereby said axial movement depends on the torque being transmitted between the first and second shafts, when one of the first and second shafts is driven. The movable shaft is adapted to be connected to a transducer for determining the axial movement.

  • Patent number: 4763539
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an apparatus for converting rotational movement into linear movement. The apparatus includes a roller unit and a rotatable screw. The roller unit is adapted to be journaled on a fixed body, and has peripheral flanges axially spaced so as to have a substantially constant pitch. The screw is adapted to be journaled on a movable body in parallel with the roller unit, and to be rotatably driven. The screw includes an outer thread having a pitch for engagement with the flanges, and rotation of the screw causes the movable body to travel along the roller unit.

  • Patent number: 4641432
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a guide bar for a saw chain which includes a pair of side plates and a center plate laser welded to and between the side plates. The center plate has a peripheral edge which is spaced inwardly from the outer periphery of the side plates so as to form a peripheral guide channel or groove for the chain. The disclosure further relates to a method of making a three-plate guide bar wherein the plates are laser welded together.

  • Patent number: 4285249
Abstract: This disclosure relates to drive apparatus including a rotatable member and a relatively fixed or non rotatable member. The two members are coupled by a thread type arrangement whereby one of the two members is moved linearly relative to the other when the rotatable member is rotated. The rotatable member includes a cylinder and a plurality of rollers attached to the outer periphery of the cylinder. The rollers are arranged in a helical line and extend radially outwardly from the cylinder. The fixed member includes a semicylindrical wall having a plurality of slots or channels formed in it, the channels also following a helical line that is similar to the line followed by the rollers. When the rotatable member is turned on its axis, the rollers move through the channels and cause relative linear movement of the two members.

  • Patent number: 4133587
Abstract: A bearing comprising at least one intermediate idling race rotatable between fixed and rotating races and a predetermined number of sets of elastic sleeve and roller distributed outside and inside the idling race between the fixed and rotating races. The sleeve encloses therewithin the roller having a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the sleeve. The sleeves roll is compressed between the races against the rollers so that the idling race can rotate at a controlled speed as the rotating race rotates.
