  • Publication number: 20080094326
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of an in-plane switching mode comprises a pair of polarizing plates which are constituted with a polarizing plate at the output side comprising a polarizer at the output side and a polarizing plate at the incident side comprising a polarizer at the incident side having a transmission axis approximately perpendicular to a transmission axis of the polarizer at the output side and two or more sheets of optically anisotropic members and liquid crystal cells disposed between the pair of polarizing plates. In the optically anisotropic member, the sum of the major in-plane refractive indices is twice the sum of the major refractive index in the direction of thickness or smaller. The ratio of retardation of light incident at an angle inclined by 40 degrees with respect to the normal toward the major axis (R40) to the retardation of light incident perpendicularly (R0) is 0.90˜1.10. The device comprises a low refractive index layer which has a refractive index of 1.

  • Publication number: 20040253427
Abstract: There is provided a composite thin film-holding substrate in which a composite thin film (4) comprising a filler (2) having a refractive index lower than that of a substrate (1) and a binder (3) having a refractive index higher than that of the filler (2) is formed on a surface of the substrate (1). Light is efficiently scattered when passing through the composite thin film (3) which comprises the filler (2) and the binder (3) having different refractive indexes from each other. In addition, the refractive index of a composite thin film (4) comprising a filler (2) having a low refractive index is low. As a result, the discharge efficiency of light which passes through the composite thin film (4) from the substrate (1) to the external is improved.

  • Publication number: 20040241456
Abstract: An antifouling film coated article is provided, which has the capability of providing good antifouling property over an extended time period regardless of the amount of rainfall falling thereon. This coated article comprises a film of a silicone resin material formed on a substrate. A contact angle of water on the film is in a range of 5 to 30°, and an average surface roughness of the film is 5 nm or less. It is preferred that the silicone resin material is a composition containing colloidal silica and a silicone resin that is at least one selected from a partial hydrolysate and full hydrolysate of 4-functional hydrolyzable organosilane. This composition may further contain organic zirconium and/or an optical semiconductor material.

  • Patent number: 6165619
Abstract: The present invention provides a functional coated product having excellent adhesion properties of a coating to a substrate, hardly causing the deterioration of the substrate and the coating due to a photocatalyst, hardly having dirt because the smoothness of the surface coating is high, and having high photocatalytic action; a method for producing the same and the use thereof. The coated product of the present invention has the first coating layer comprising a cured coating made of an acryl-modified silicone resin coating material, which is formed on the surface of the substrate, and the second coating layer comprising a cured coating made of a functional coating material containing the photocatalyst, which is formed con the surface of the first coating layer. When producing such a coated product, the acryl-modified silicone resin coating material is applied to the surface of the substrate as the first coating layer and it is semi-cured.
