  • Patent number: 6131247
Abstract: The magnetic fixing unit of the present invention comprises a first assembly which is attached to one member of a pair of members to be combined to each other, and a second assembly which is attached to the other member of said pair members. The first assembly comprises a magnet plate and an engaging portion, and the second assembly comprises a magnetic plate which is attracted to the magnet plate when said second assembly is combined with the first assembly, an engaging member made of magnetic material, which is located on the other side of said magnetic plate with respect to the magnet plate and is moved to a lock position for the engaging portion by an operation of the magnet plate when the second assembly is combined with the first assembly, and a slider which is applied to said engaging member to move said member from the lock position to a release position.

  • Patent number: 5707091
Abstract: A magnetic fastener has a fastening element N having a strong ferromagnetic component 20 placed on the magnetic pole 10b of the permanent magnet 10. The magnet 10 has a hole 11 extend in the direction of magnetic field. The Fastener also has an element to be attracted M having a strong ferromagnetic component 50. The ferromagnetic component 50 will be pulled to the other side 10a of the permanent magnet 10 on the fastening element N. The element to be attracted M can also be designed in such a way that the fastening element N snaps on and off through the hole 11. At least one of the ferromagnetic components 20 and 50 protrudes beyond the circumference of the permanent magnet 10 for more than 0.1 mm but no more than 2.0 mm, when the diameter of the permanent magnet is 18 mm.

  • Patent number: 5647101
Abstract: A magnetic fastener has a fastening element and an attracted element. The fastening element has a permanent magnet with a hole substantially parallel to the direction of the magnetic poles and a ferromagnetic plate on one side of the magnet facing the hole. The attracted element also has a ferromagnetic plate adapted for connecting to the open side side of the magnet facing the hole. Either one or both of the first and second plate can have a ferromagnetic rod that extends into the magnet hole. If only one rod is formed, the length of it extends substantially the depth of the magnet so that when the attracted element is connected to the fastening element, the end of the rod is near or contacting the opposing ferromagnetic plate through the magnet hole. If a rod is formed on each plate, the combined length of the rods is such that the ends thereof are near or touching within the magnet hole when the attracted element is fully engaged to the fastening element.

  • Patent number: 5572772
Abstract: A fastener comprising a male member (A) and a female member (B), wherein a projection (P) including a magnet is disposed on the male member and the female member defines an opening adapted to receive the projection. A slidable engagement member (60), which includes a ferromagnetic portion (61) and a non-magnetic or weakly magnetic portion (62), is disposed within the female member and is slidable relative thereto. The engagement member is positioned such that after the male member is inserted into the female member the attraction between the ferromagnetic portion and the magnet moves the engagement member into a locking relationship with the male member.

  • Patent number: 5560089
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener means comprising an attracting member A with a permanent magnet 1 and an attracted member B with a ferromagnetic element 110 to be attracted by the former member. To assure easy and stable attraction between the members A and B when they are respectively fixed to a pair of objects C and C' disposed in an intersecting relation, the members A and B include planes and e' that are parallel to each other when the members are attracted. Alternatively, the main attraction surfaces a' and/or b' of the members A and B include a plane d and/or d' within a virtual plane D that intersects the fixing surfaces of the objects, or the attracting member A and/or the attracted member B are fixed to the object with an inclination, so that the members A and B can be held stably attracted to each other without being subject to external force.

  • Patent number: 5377392
Abstract: A magnetic fastener is provided with a female member having a slide plate which engages with a recess portion of a projection formed in a cooperating male member. The projection is held in engagement with the slide plate via a permanent magnet formed in the projection. The female member has first and second plate members sandwiching the slide plate. The first and second plate members are held together by deforming the plate members or by welding. The first and second plate members and the slide plate each have an opening, the slide plate having a larger opening. The projection is inserted into the opening upon which one edge of the slide plate formed by the opening engages the recess portion and held thereto via the magnetic attraction. The male member can only be disengaged from the female member by pushing or pulling its engaged edge away from the projection.

  • Patent number: 5274889
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastener means which utilizes the attraction force of a permanent magnet and which is characterized in that a ferromagnetic member attached to one of the magnetic pole surfaces of an annular permanent magnet constituting the fastener means and having a through-hole extending between the magnetic poles and a ferromagnetic member attached to the other magnetic pole are detachably attracted to each other via said through-hole, and portions of the surfaces of the permanent magnet to which the first ferromagnetic member is not contacting the permanent magnet, excluding the peripheral surface of the through-hole or including the peripheral surface at the mouth of the through-hole, are covered with a ferromagnetic casing or a ferromagnetic material, such as a ferromagnetically plated sheet, having the thickness of about 0.03 to 0.20 mm.

  • Patent number: 5253394
Abstract: A magnetic fastener having a female member with a slide plate which attracted by the permanent magnet of the male member. The slide plate engages with the male member and thereby restrains removal of the male member unless manually slid into disengagement. The female member has first and a second plates between which the slide plate is slideably inserted. So as to secure the first and second plates together, deformable catches are formed on one of the plates and indentions which receive the catches are formed on the other. When the catches of the one plate are inserted in the indented portions of the other and then deformed, the first and the second plates are firmly engaged to constitute a female frame of the fastener.
