    Abstract: The invention relates to an electrochemical device having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, wherein at least either of the positive electrode and the negative electrode has a current collector and an electrode layer having an electrode active material and a binder containing a polymer having a constituent unit derived from an amide group-containing monomer and a constituent unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid, such that: (i) the polymer has a swelling rate of 120 to 600% when immersed for 24 hours at 80° C. in a solution containing ethylene carbonate, diethyl carbonate, ethyl methyl carbonate and lithium hexafluorophosphate; or (ii) the polymer has a swelling rate of 110 to 300% when immersed for 24 hours at 80° C. in a solution containing propylene carbonate and methyl triethyl ammonium tetrafluoroborate.
