  • Patent number: 7481540
Abstract: A display device according to the invention has a passage between an image generation device (DMD) and a lamp, wherein the passage guides airflow to the vicinity of a reflector of the lamp, and, after the airflow cools the DMD, the airflow can further cool heat generated by a filter which converts light from the lamp to an image light corresponding to video signals of R, G, and B, and by a light pipe which uniformalizes the in-plane intensity distribution of light incident to the DMD.

    Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toshiba
Inventors: Teruyuki Morimoto, Takeshi Satomi, Hideo Kanai
  • Patent number: 7237906
Abstract: A projection-type image display apparatus includes a body including an air inlet and an air outlet and accommodating a heating element; a lamp unit including a light-source lamp and a housing that accommodates the light-source lamp and that includes an air intake and an exhaust opening communicating with the air outlet; a duct unit including a first end adjacent to the air inlet, a second end adjacent to the air intake, and a flow channel connecting the first and second ends; a radiating unit thermally connected to the heating element, at least part of the radiating unit being disposed inside the flow channel of the duct unit; and a fan, drawing air from the air inlet through the first end of the duct unit and sending the air to the air intake through the second end, disposed between the radiating unit and the second end.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 7222970
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a lamp unit comprises a light source lamp, a casing and a dividing member. Configured to hold the light source lamp, the casing comprises a first opening as an inlet port where cooling air is fed from the outside to the light source lamp. The dividing member is provided in the vicinity of the second opening of the casing and is configured to divide the flow of the cooling air into the second opening into at least two paths.
