    Abstract: Inulin, which is contained at a high concentration in agave plants growing in arid areas, has been utilized hitherto exclusively in producing alcoholic drinks as tequila. It is intended to produce highly water-soluble inulin having a high added value from these plants. It is also intended to produce an agave syrup, tequila, an alcoholic drink or highly water-soluble inulin from the squeezed residue. Agave plant bulbs (several tens kg) having been employed in producing tequila called pina are cut into small pieces and enzymes therein are inactivated and the texture is softened either at room temperature or under heating. Next, the pieces are squeezed to give a liquid extract which is then refined by using an adsorbent resin. The refined product is employed either as such as a concentrate or after drying to give a powder.

The ferrous ion is oxidized to ferric ion, and the ferric ion is precipitated by raising the pH of the solution to 3-4. The utilization of phosphate ion both increases the efficiency of oxidation and simultaneously precipitates ferric ion. A second raising the pH of the purified solution precipitates highly pure copper hydroxide that can be harvested.

    Abstract: Stable copper colloid solutions are prepared from purified solutions of copper sulfate. The copper sulfate solution is purified by adding oxidizing agent and adding phosphoric acid or phosphate ion to precipitate iron or aluminum. Adjusting the pH yield a colloidal solution. A solid salt is made from the colloidal solution by mixing the colloidal solution with a water miscible organic solvent such as methanol or acetone. The copper colloidal solutions are shown to be effective fungicides against fusarium.

    Abstract: A quantum state or qubit is transmitted from a sender to receiver using a quantum teleportation. For this purpose, first, second and third photons are successively produced from a laser source. The first photon is modified in polarization according to encoded information to be sent. The second and third photons are mutually quantum-mechanically correlated and shared by the sender and receiver, respectively. The sender measures the polarized states of the coincidentally appearing first and second photons and transmits measurement outcomes to the receiver via classical communication. The receiver recovers information of the first photon from the third photon based on his measurement and the measurement outcomes transmitted by the sender.
