  • Patent number: 5675503
Abstract: A method and system for regulating power delivered to specific appliances or loads which represent but a proportion of the power consumed by different commercial or residential users and in which each appliance or load has variable demands for power consumption, the method and system of the present invention being characterized by measuring the natural run time or average demand of an electrical appliance over a selected real time interval and reducing the run time or average demand of the appliance by an amount directly related to the run-time measurement or average demand measurement of each appliance during periods of peak demand.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 19, 1994
Date of Patent: October 7, 1997
Assignee: Denver Energy Cost Controls, Inc.
Inventors: Maynard L. Moe, Theodore A. Hedman
  • Patent number: 4819180
Abstract: A method and system for regulating power delivered to different commercial or residential users in which each user has variable demands for power consumption, there being a power source from which power is transmitted by a utility to each user and a utility control signal which is transmitted from the utility to each user in order to modify the power consumed by each user, the method and system of the present invention being characterized by measuring the power consumption of each user over a selected real time interval, and modifying the power consumption by each user by an amount directly related to the power consumption measurement of each user over that time interval.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 13, 1987
Date of Patent: April 4, 1989
Assignee: Dencor Energy Cost Controls, Inc.
Inventors: Theodore A. Hedman, Maynard L. Moe
  • Patent number: 4021793
Abstract: An input detection circuit to provide a D.C. output signal of a selected value upon receipt of an input A.C. signal of a given value on an input line. The detector circuit includes a NORTON type current responsive operational amplifier having an inverted input terminal, a non-inverted input terminal and an output terminal. A circuit is provided at the inverted terminal for biasing the amplifier to provide an output voltage on the output terminal substantially less than the selected output signal. A full wave rectifier connected to the input line and having a first output conductive during the negative portion of an A.C. signal applied to the input line and a second output conductive during the positive portion of an A.C. signal applied to the input line. There is provided a first resistor for connecting the first output of the rectifier to the inverted terminal and a second resistor for connecting the second output to the non-inverted terminal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 1976
Date of Patent: May 3, 1977
