  • Patent number: 4406004
Abstract: A ring scheduling apparatus for use in a digital multiplexed telephone communication system. The apparatus utilizes a controller which sorts messages indicating which telephone lines are being rung and what frequency and DC signal level are required to ring the lines. The messages are sorted into voltage and frequency compatible groups, and then digital data is sent to a ring signal generating circuit to control the frequency of the ring signal generated and the polarity of the DC signal upon which the ring signal is superimposed. Disclosure of a multiplexer and line interface circuitry for use in this system is included as well as a self-test circuit for testing the audio circuitry of idle telephone lines.

  • Patent number: 4393491
Abstract: An automatic self-test apparatus for use in a digital multiplexed communication system and self-testing idle circuitry coupled to idle telephone lines. The apparatus utilizes a tone generator which generates digital words describing an analog test signal and a detector which detects digital data on the internal data bus which describes this self-test analog signal. The data from the tone generator is coupled to the circuitry connected to the idle line through a time division multiplexer under the control of a controller consisting of a programmed microprocessor. The microprocessor controls when the transfer is made and to which telephone line it is directed. This control is accomplished by writing a control word to a multiplexer naming the source and destination for the transfer and the time slot in which it is to occur. When the circuitry connected to the idle line functions properly, the controller proceeds to the next idle line. If a malfunction is detected, the controller sets an alarm.

  • Patent number: 4312064
Abstract: A communication transmission system includes one or more modulated carrier communication channels in which a receiver has a modified vestigial side band filter for eliminating phase cancellation. Accurate design of the modified vestigial side band filters at the receivers, further reduces susceptibility to frequency drift caused by component aging and component response to environmental changes. The system has particular utility in multiple channel carrier telephone communication systems which utilize limited available band width for providing a maximum number of communication channels over an extended length communication line.

  • Patent number: 4169214
Abstract: In a digital carrier-concentration system, utilizing time slot assignment, comprises a delta modulator operable to convert analog signals into a digital binary bit stream, the modulator being responsive to the bit stream to decode a coincident pulse whenever a predetermined number of "ones" or "zeros" occur in the bit stream, a voice detect circuit responsive to the coincident pulse to provide a voice detect output, and a control assigns the stream a time slot in a high bit rate data channel in response to detection of the voice detect output, after a predetermined interval.

  • Patent number: 4110563
Abstract: A modulation system for use in analog signal transmission processes input information in multiple analog communication channels, for multiplexing onto a data channel. The system includes:A delta modulator and logic circuitry connected therewith to suppress data transmission when the modulator produces alternating 1's and 0's and to signal activation of pulse transmission when a successive sequence of at least two 1's and two 0's is transmitted by the modulator.
