  • Patent number: 8496939
Abstract: Personal care or cosmetic oil in water emulsions include an oil emulsifier and a combination of a Xanthan polysaccharide and a polyglucomannan polysaccharide to provide enhanced stability even at low emulsifier stabilizer levels. The emulsifier stabilizer system provides stable emulsions without dominating system rheology, particularly viscosity. Thus, the emulsions can have a low viscosity suitable for formulation as milks or thin lotions, or can be thickened, desirably by thickening agents other than the Xanthans and/or polyglucomannan, to provide emulsion creams or gels. This enables the system to be used very flexibly in end use applications. The emulsifier is desirably a non-ionic emulsifier and particularly is a combination of a low HLB and a high HLB emulsifier and can be formulated with conventional alcohol ethoxylate surfactants or from non-EO surfactants e.g. sucrose ester high HLB surfactants and citrate or sorbitan ester low HLB surfactants.

  • Publication number: 20120087945
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method for keeping an immunogenic composition available for administration to an animal, wherein said composition comprises an antigen and an emulsion which is a single emulsion at a first temperature below a body temperature of the animal and which emulsion reverses at a second temperature between the first temperature and the body temperature, said method comprising providing the composition, freezing the composition, and storing the frozen composition until it is needed for administration to the animal. The invention also pertains to a method for testing an immunogenic composition, and an immunogenic composition, optionally in combination with specific instructions for storing the composition.

  • Publication number: 20120070459
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method for keeping a foot-and-mouth disease vaccine available for emergency vaccination of animals against foot-and-mouth disease, the vaccine comprising a foot-and-mouth disease antigen formulated in a water-in-oil emulsion, the method comprising the steps of providing the formulated vaccine, freezing the vaccine, and storing the frozen vaccine until it is needed for emergency vaccination.

  • Patent number: 8073972
Abstract: A system and method for enabling a client to query a DNS server for location information that is associated with the client's IP address. The client receives the location information which identifies a list of sub-locations and a location IP address space encompassing the sub-locations listed. The client selects a network service located nearest to the client based on the location information, and then accesses the network service.

  • Publication number: 20040071716
Abstract: The present invention provides adjuvants, for use in vaccine formulation, comprising a water-in-oil emulsion, characterised in that said emulsion comprises a polymeric emulsifier which is a block copolymer having a general formula A-COO-B-OOC-A, in which B is the divalent residue of a water-soluble polyalkylene glycol and A is the residue of a oil-soluble complex mono-carboxylic acid. Such polymeric emulsifier, as well as the preparation thereof, has been disclosed in GB 2002400 and WO9607689. Preferably in the blockcopolymers of formula A-COO-B-OOC-A, component B is derived from polyethylene glycol and components A are derived from polyhydroxystearic acid, preferably from poly(12-hydroxy-stearic acid). Most preferred emulsifiers used in the adjuvants according to the invention are Arlacel P135, a PEG 30 Dipolyhydroxystearate. Another, similar, emulsifier for use with the invention is ATLOX® 4912.
