  • Patent number: 11951036
Abstract: A device for providing a droplet of a liquid stored in an interior of a vial is disclosed that includes a support body and a resilient dome portion mounted to the support body to form a chamber having air, with the dome portion being configured to create an air flow when activated by compression. The support body includes a vial seat, a nozzle, and air flow and transfer conduits. The support body is arranged, when the vial is received by the vial seat, such that the air flow conduit establishes an air connection between the vial interior and the chamber, the transfer conduit establishes a fluid connection between the vial and the nozzle, and, upon activation of the dome portion, the air flow delivers air into the vial that causes liquid to be transferred from the vial to the nozzle through the transfer conduit.

  • Patent number: 11951073
Abstract: A device for transferring a liquid from a first vial to a second vial is disclosed having a dome portion configured to create an air flow when activated by compression and re-expansion, and a support body tightly supporting the dome portion to form a chamber with air therein. The support body includes first and second vial seats, and a transfer conduit. The first and second vial seats are arranged to receive the first and second vials. When the first and second vials are received in the first and second vial seats, the transfer conduit is arranged to establish a fluid connection between the first vial and the second vial. Upon activation of the dome portion, air is delivered into the first vial, thereby creating a pressure rise in the first vial which causes the liquid to transfer from the first vial to the second vial through the transfer conduit.

  • Patent number: 11602266
Abstract: An articulating, steerable surgical probe includes an elongated, flexible transfer tube adapted for insertion into a surgical region for endoscopic laryngeal laser surgery. A lumen is defined by an interior of the transfer tube, and a laser fiber extends through the lumen for delivering a therapeutic laser signal to a distal end of the laser fiber. An articulating tip at the distal end of the transfer tube is responsive to articulating forces from a retractable tether for directing the treatment probe in a direction of the articulation, and a linkage to the tether from a control module effects controlled retraction of the tether for articulating the tip towards a surgical target, such that the articulating tip imposing a bend radius based on a signal loss through the laser fiber.

  • Patent number: 10908819
Abstract: A media drive system (310) configured for use with a media drive (314) that performs read/write operations relative to a media cartridge (316) includes a system housing (312). The system housing (312) includes a housing body (312A) and a controller (350) that is secured to the housing body (312A). The controller (350) is configured to control functionality of the tape drive (314). More specifically, the inclusion of the controller (350) as part of the system housing (312) enables the media drive system (310) to achieve greatly enhanced functionality. For example, the media drive system (310) can greatly enhance the speed of various desired read/write operations performed within the media drive (314), especially when the requested files or file segments are not necessarily initially provided in sequential order on the media cartridge (316). The controller (350) can include one or both of a processor (352) and a memory system (354).

  • Publication number: 20190254266
Abstract: Human or humanized tissues and organs suitable for transplant are disclosed herein. Gene editing of a host animal provides a niche for complementation of the missing genetic information by donor stem cells. Editing of a host genome to knock out or debilitate genes responsible for the growth and/or differentiation of a target organ and injecting that animal at an embryo stage with donor stem cells to complement the missing genetic information for the growth and development of the organ. The result is a chimeric animal in which the complemented tissue (human/humanized organ) matches the genotype and phenotype of the donor. Such organs may be made in a single generation and the stem cell may be taken or generated from the patient's own body. As disclosed herein, it is possible to do so by simultaneously editing multiple genes in a cell or embryo creating a “niche” for the complemented tissue.

  • Publication number: 20190010913
Abstract: A water wheel generator assembly that has a shell formed by a housing, which can be a pre-existing water wheel, and a pair of cover plates. The cover plates have weep holes and vents that maintain pressure, buoyancy, and balance, while improving efficiency and reducing wear on a generator. An internal ridge forces water out from a cavity of the shell. Shell bearings are inset in the cover plates that carry the weight of the shell, removing the weight on the generator. A hollow through shaft passes through the cover plates and allows the passage of cabling therethrough to permit stringing assemblies together. Within the shell, multiple generators can be strung together.

  • Patent number: 10077393
Abstract: A method of enhancing oil recovery includes the step of determining a specific nutrient package used to initiate a microbiological response under actual reservoir conditions in combination with low salinity water injection. Once determined, the specific nutrient package is applied to at least one targeted well to stimulate resident microorganisms such that size or hydrophobic properties are beneficially altered so that interaction with oil contained in a reservoir rock formation is improved.

  • Patent number: 10030514
Abstract: A method of monitoring fluid flow in an oil reservoir includes the step of delivering a nutrient package to an oil reservoir. The nutrient package stimulates the growth of resident microbes/organisms which changes the morphology and function of the microbes. A sample is taken from produced fluids from wells in the reservoir and possible connections thereof and analyzed. Based on the analysis, determinations are made regarding the movement of fluids in the reservoir by observing changes in the range, concentration, and cell morphology of the microbes after nutrient stimulation by comparing pre-treatment versus post treatment measurements.
