  • Publication number: 20140158688
Abstract: A closure for a container is described. The container has an opening through which contents of the container are dispensed and a holding member (255, 285, 295, 305, 315, 316, 317, 340, 350) for cooperating with the closure to retain the closure on the container. A sealing member (220) is configured to sealingly close the container opening. The sealing member includes a retention member (260, 275, 290, 300, 310, 325, 335, 345, 355) engageable with the holding member of the container to retain the sealing member in sealing engagement with the container. A cap member (225) has a top rim and a sidewall depending from the top rim. The sidewall includes an attachment member (160) for attachment to the container and an engagement member (245) that operatively couples the sealing member to the cap member upon placement of the cap member on the container. The cap member is rotatable relative to the container and relative to the sealing member.

  • Publication number: 20110259847
Abstract: A bottle packaging includes a groove on the neck of a bottle with the groove spaced longitudinally from a shoulder of the bottle a distance greater than or equal to a width of the groove, and upper and lower portions of the neck may have outer transverse cross-sectional dimensions that are substantially equal to one another. An upper circumferential sidewall of the groove may be chamfered, while a lower circumferential sidewall may be concave. The bottle may be combined with an adapter such that when the adapter is releasably connected to the bottle, a lowermost rim of the adapter is spaced longitudinally from an upper reach of the groove. The adapter may include a detent on an inner surface thereof adapted to removably seat in the groove to releasably connect the adapter to the bottle. A closure member may include at least one of a detent and a sealing member removably seated in the groove.

  • Patent number: 7891510
Abstract: An assembly includes a container and a closure. The closure includes a tamper-indicating band having a plurality of sloping teeth. Each of the sloping teeth of the tamper-indicating band has an engagement surface that is engageable with one of the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth of the container. The sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band are configured such that when one of the teeth on the tamper-indicating band completely engages one of the teeth on the exterior surface of the neck of the container, the engagement surface of at least one of the other sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band is free from engagement with the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth of the container and the engagement surface of at least one of the other sloping teeth of the container is free from engagement with the engagement surfaces of the sloping teeth on the tamper-indicating band.

  • Patent number: 7083058
Abstract: 15A sealing closure for use with a container includes a top wall, an annular skirt, and a resiliently flexible annular flange. The annular skirt extends downwardly from the top wall. The annular flange extends downwardly from the top wall and radially outwardly toward the annular skirt. One or more stop ribs can be provided extending downwardly from the top wall and radially inwardly from the annular skirt to limit upward deflection of the annular flange.

  • Patent number: 6024234
Abstract: The invention comprises a cap member having an annular wall and a top wall disposed within and connected to the annular wall. An arcuate pierce-plow member is disposed on an upper surface of the top wall at a position spaced from the annular wall. The pierce-plow member includes a first plow base member having a ramp portion and a substantially flat portion. The pierce-plow member further includes a piercing member disposed adjacent to the substantially flat portion of the plow base member. The piercing member includes a first portion disposed adjacent to the first plow base member and a second portion disposed at a position spaced from the first plow base member. A thickness of the second portion of the piercing member is greater than a thickness of the first portion of the piercing member.

  • Patent number: 5531682
Abstract: An apparatus is useful for dye marking a liquid enteral nutritional product during delivery thereof from a supply container to a feeding tube delivering the nutritional product to the gastrointestinal tract of a patient. A formulation chamber, such as a drip chamber, is connectable to the supply container. At least one sustained release reservoir containing a physiologically acceptable marker dye is positioned within the formulation chamber, or if not, is included as part of a kit. The sustained release reservoir may be in the form of a coated tablet, osmotically driven device, coated capsule, microencapsulated microspheres, agglomerated molecular sieving material, or chopped hollow fibers having permeable walls. A liquid communication means connects the formulation chamber to the feeding tube of a patient. The marker dye may be a colorant dye or a fluorescing dye or a mixture thereof.
