  • Patent number: 11925289
Abstract: A method, and apparatus for implementing the method, for adjusting a dispensing temperature of a hot beverage by an automatic beverage maker. The temperature of the hot beverage and/or the water supplied to a brewing unit for producing the hot beverage is measured. The measured temperature is compared with a desired value and the temperature of the hot beverage is adjusted to the desired value by cooling. The hot beverage or the water supplied to the brewing unit for producing the hot beverage is cooled directly via a machine-controlled addition of cold water. The temperature is adapted to the desired value by an amount of cold water supplied by the machine-controlled addition of cold water. The temperature is adapted by a controllable metering valve that meters the amount of added cold water.

  • Publication number: 20210321817
Abstract: A method for operating an apparatus for providing a milk-air emulsion. The apparatus includes: a milk line through which milk flows, a mixing chamber disposed in the milk line, an air feed system having an adjusting unit responsive to a control variable for setting an amount of air injected into the mixing chamber for producing the milk-air emulsion, a measuring unit for determining a physical material property of the milk-air emulsion, and a control and evaluation unit to set the control variable. In a first operating mode an amount of air, controlled by the adjusting unit, is introduced into the mixing chamber to produce the air-milk emulsion which is thereafter is dispensed. In a second operating mode a self-adjustment is performed in which the control and evaluation unit creates a data set as a function of the physical material property of the milk-air emulsion and generates the control variable based on the data set that is input to the adjusting unit.

  • Publication number: 20210177193
Abstract: A method for producing a hot beverage by an apparatus from water and a raw material in a brewing unit includes determining, by a measuring unit, an actual value of a physical material property and/or a physical variable dependent on the physical material property, and optionally a process property of the hot beverage, and comparing, with a control and/or regulating unit, the actual value and a set point value of the physical material property and/or the physical variable and optionally the process property. The control and/or regulating unit uses a data memory in which data records of set point values and/or set point value ranges are stored according to a temperature and/or a desired hot beverage type. If the actual value is outside the set point value range, a control and/or manipulated variable is adjusted by the control and/or regulating unit such that the physical material property of the hot beverage is influenced in a controlled or regulated manner.

  • Patent number: 9807975
Abstract: A device for processing milk foam for use in an automatic hot and/or cold beverage machine includes a milk pump to pump the milk foam, and a secondary processing device coupled to the milk foam pump to change the consistency of the milk foam. The secondary processing device includes a homogenizer to break up and distribute air bubbles in the milk foam. The homogenizer has a reducing region including a plurality of impact bodies arranged to define a channel labyrinth through which the milk foam is flowable. Additionally, there is provided a process for homogenizing milk foam utilizing the above device, includes steps of a) impacting divided partial flows of the milk foam with the impact surfaces to divide the air bubbles of the milk foam; and b) mixing the divided partial flows with the divided air bubbles together to form new partial flows.

  • Patent number: 9668452
Abstract: A process for producing milk foam includes pumping milk through a milk line with a milk pump having an adjustable speed for adjusting the capacity of the milk pump. Milk from the milk line and air are mixed inside a first mixing chamber to produce a milk foam. Properties of the milk foam, including a consistency of the milk foam, are a function of the speed of the milk pump. A device for producing the milk foam includes a milk container; an outlet; a milk line connected between the milk container and the outlet; a first mixing chamber installed in the milk line to mix milk and air to produce milk foam; and a milk pump having an adjustable speed coupled into the milk line.

  • Publication number: 20160366905
Abstract: A method for producing a coffee beverage, using ground coffee in a brewing chamber of a coffee machine including a control unit and a brewing cylinder housing a movably arranged piston having a piston drive for providing a changeable volume for the brewing chamber. An amount of ground coffee is filled into the brewing chamber. Water is conduct through the ground coffee in the brewing chamber to prepare the coffee beverage. A volume flow of water flowing through the brewing chamber is determined and compared to a desired value for the volume flow. An adjustment value of the piston position is changed, thus changing the pressing force exerted onto the ground coffee, in the brewing chamber as a function of deviations from the desired value for the volume flow to control the volume flow until a desired volume flow is reached.
