  • Publication number: 20170277231
Abstract: A removable storage cartridge system may include a linear push-push mechanism comprising a carriage having a lock bar and a lock bar spring, and an enclosure having a mounting bracket having a lock guide. The lock guide is configured to interact with the lock bar and spring such that, in response to a first pushing force, reception of the carriage into the mounting bracket positions the carriage into a locked position within the enclosure and, in response to a second pushing force, the carriage is released from the locked position and ejected from the system.

  • Patent number: 9703333
Abstract: A removable storage cartridge system includes a rack and pinion gear reduction mechanism that assists in extending an eject spring and may assist in engaging a pair of data interface connectors as a cartridge is inserted into the system, and that may further function as a gear multiplication mechanism that assists in disengaging the pair of data interface connectors as the cartridge is ejected from the system.

  • Publication number: 20140301033
Abstract: A storage cartridge and method are provided. The storage cartridge in one example includes a cartridge body including an insertion face configured to be inserted into a cartridge slot of the storage cartridge dock system, with at least one storage medium positioned within the cartridge body and configured to store digital data, a first connector portion of a first interface technology formed in the insertion face, wherein the first connector portion can be coupled to a corresponding interface connector in a cartridge slot of the storage cartridge dock system, and at least a second connector portion of a second interface technology formed in the insertion face, wherein the at least second connector portion can be coupled to an interface cable when the storage cartridge is not inserted in the storage cartridge dock system.

  • Patent number: 7180732
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mechanically mounting and electrically connecting a plurality of small form factor (SFF) storage devices such as 2.5? hard disk drives in place of a larger SFF hard disk drive such as a single SFF 3.5? hard disk drive. This provides increased disk drive capacity and/or higher performance. The storage devices may be connected in a redundant array of independent disk (RAID) architecture for implementation as a RAID stripe, mirror, or other RAID configuration.

  • Publication number: 20040177218
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for implementing a multi-level redundant array of independent disks (RAID) architecture to increase data storage system performance and/or redundancy of data. In one embodiment, the RAID architecture includes, at the lowest or n-th layer, a plurality of nodes or storage devices implementing striped, mirrored, and/or other RAID algorithm, and assigned a system identification or LUN (logical unit number). Each LUN is part of a larger data storage system that may employ one or more other RAID organizations such as a RAID 4 or RAID 5.
