  • Publication number: 20240093809
Abstract: Tube having a length of more than 10 m suitable for high-pressure applications with internal pressure of 2 bar or more, and which is not afflicted with disadvantages exhibited by tubes produced by conventional drawing or cold pilger milling methods. The tube has a wall thickness equal to or larger than the internal diameter, an axial length of 12 m or more, a tensile strength Rm of 850 N/mm2 or more, and a mean roughness index Ra of the inner wall surface of 0.8 ?m or less. Furthermore, a method of manufacturing such a tube forms a hollow into a tubular intermediate in a first forming step according to the cold forming method, the tubular intermediate thus obtained is annealed, and the annealed tubular intermediate is formed into a tube in a second forming step according to the cold forming method.

  • Patent number: 11724299
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method for straightening of a tube comprising a ferritic FeCrAl-alloy. One reason for the challenges regarding the cold working of a hollow of a ferritic FeCrAl-alloy into a finished tube is that FeCrAl-alloys have a low ductility. Even if a tube of a FeCrAl-alloy is obtained by cold working a hollow into a tube, the tube can hardly be straightened. This is even more a problem if a tube obtained is annealed, wherein the annealing leads to a deformation of tube along the longitudinal direction of the tube. Therefore, there is a need for a method for straightening of a tube comprising a ferritic FeCrAl-alloy. Thus, according to the present disclosure a method for straightening of a tube is suggested, wherein the method comprises the steps of providing a tube comprising a ferritic FeCrAl-alloy, heating the tube, and straightening and forming the heated tube by stretching.

  • Patent number: 11045848
Abstract: Pilger rolling mill for working a hollow into a tube has a first roll stand mounted linearly moveable in a direction of motion. Translational motion of the roll stand causes rotational motion of the drive gear due to the cogging of the drive gear with the gear rack and, hence, also rotational motion of the roller arranged on the shaft of the drive gear and rotational motion of the other one of the two rollers in the opposite direction. Roll stand is connected with a crank drive and rotational motion of a motor drive is transformed into an oscillating translational motion of the roll stand by a connecting rod. Gear rack holder allows adjustment of the pilger rolling mill with respect to tube diameters of finished rolled tubes by arranging the first roll stand exchangeable by a second roll stand with a second dimension being different from the first dimension.

  • Patent number: 10882090
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming a hollow 26 of a ferritic FeCrAl alloy into a tube 2. While tubes made of powder metallurgical, dispersion hardened, ferritic FeCrAl alloys are commercially available, hollows made of FeCrAl alloys so far can hardly be formed into tubes of small dimensions. The major reason for the problems in forming hollows of a ferritic FeCrAI alloy into a finished product is that FeCrAl alloys are brittle. It is therefore an aspect of the present invention to provide a tube 2 made of a ferritic FeCrAl alloy having arbitrary small dimensions. Furthermore, it is an aspect of the present invention to provide a machine 1 and a method for forming a tubular hollow 26 into a finished tube 2 of a ferritic FeCrAl alloy. At least one of the above aspects is addressed by a method for forming a hollow into a tube 2 comprising the steps providing the hollow 26 of a ferritic FeCrAl alloy, heating the hollow 26 to a temperature in a range from 90° C. to 150° C.

  • Patent number: 10724658
Abstract: Method for manufacturing a tube of metal in which sensors are attached to tubes, which register and signal a damage of the tube. It is detrimental that protection of the sensors at these tubes against environmental influences is complex. In contrast, it is an object of the present disclosure to provide a method for manufacturing a tube, in which the signal line can be protectively mounted. To solve this object, a method for manufacturing a tube of metal is suggested with an outer tube and an inner tube, wherein a groove is drawn in an inner surface of the outer tube or in an outer surface of the inner tube and subsequently the inner tube and the outer tube are drawn together through a drawing die, wherein the inner dimension of the outer tube is reduced such that after the drawing the outer tube is force-fitted onto the inner tube.

  • Publication number: 20200200132
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a diesel distributor fuel rail for a diesel combustion engine with a diesel distributor conduit and a plurality of injector cups in fluid connection with a diesel distributor conduit. In order to make combustion engines having a smaller cylinder capacity more efficient, it is necessary to enhance fuel pressure in the distributor fuel rail. On the other hand the footprint available for the distributor fuel rail has not changed. According to the present disclosure it is thus suggested to provide at least a section of the distributor conduit by a tube made of an austenitic stainless steel comprising, in weight %, C?0.080, 8.00?Mn?10.00 Si?1.00, P?0.030 S?0.030 19.00?Cr?21.50, 5.50?Ni?7.50, 0.15?N?0.40, Mo?0.75, Cu?0.75, balance Fe and normally occurring impurities.

  • Publication number: 20200200325
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a system for transmission of liquid hydrogen with a liquid hydrogen transmitting equipment, a liquid hydrogen receiving equipment, and a conduit in fluid communication with the liquid hydrogen transmitting equipment and with the liquid hydrogen receiving equipment for guiding liquid hydrogen between the liquid hydrogen transmitting equipment and the liquid hydrogen receiving equipment. So far tubes made of an austenitic stainless steel comprising this composition of ingredients are welded. A major problem of tubes used for liquid hydrogen applications is the risk for cracking Especially when they are used under extreme conditions. Therefore there is a need to provide a tube made of an austenitic stainless which at least overcomes one of the foresaid problems.

  • Publication number: 20200130035
Abstract: Method for producing a high-pressure tube with inner tube and outer tube made of metal are drawn together through a first drawing die. The outer diameter of the inner tube is smaller than the inner diameter and drawing forms a very stable frictional connection between the inner tube and the outer tube. The manufactured tube has a large wall thickness and is very robust and pressure-resistant while having a very high quality outer shell surface and in particular a very high quality inner shell surface by virtue of the cold forming process. These two properties allow a sufficiently high protection against bursting when pressures in excess of 12,000 bar are applied to the tube. The produced tube has improved dynamic pressure resistance against high pressures by combining a large wall thickness of the tube to be manufactured with a high quality inner shell surface of the tube to be manufactured.
