  • Patent number: 11447290
Abstract: A can lid (14) for an aluminum beverage can is disclosed and has a pull tab (38), a chuck wall (26) defining a plug diameter B, a countersink (28) and a central panel (30) having a panel radius (48). On the central panel, a score line (34) defining a tear panel (32) and a rivet (40) for connecting the pull-tab to the can lid are arranged. The lid has a lid plug diameter of between 45 to 49 mm, an outside diameter of between 52 to 55 mm, and a weight of less than 1.9 g. The central panel has a thickness of less than 0.19 mm. The rivet is arranged off-center on the central panel. The rivet is tilted, so that the rivet provides an axis of rotation of the pull tap that has an angle of between 2° and 4° with respect to an axis that is vertically orientated with respect to the central panel, and/or at least one ramp-up bead (56) is arranged on either side of pull tab or on both sides of the pull tab.

  • Patent number: 10450103
Abstract: The invention relates to a lid consisting of metal for a beverage can, which lid is designed to be permanently connected to a can body and has a lid panel in which a rivet for a grip tab is formed and in which a predetermined breaking line defining a breaking-open area is impressed, along which line an opening in the lid panel can be opened by the grip tab, wherein a rivet base, which has resulted from a formation of the rivet, is present around the rivet, within which base the metal of the lid is thinner and/or more brittle than in adjoining regions of the lid panel.

  • Publication number: 20150108133
Abstract: The invention relates to a lid for a beverage can or similar, having a lid surface and a closure unit which is to be opened and is re-closable, which is disposed in the region of the lid surface. The closure unit has the property of selectively uncovering or closing a drinking opening in the lid surface. On the outer side of the lid a foil which, on the outer side of the lid, covers the closure unit and, around the closure unit, is entirely connected to the lid surface so as to be tight in such a manner that, on account of the connection between the foil and the lid surface, ingress of moisture is prevented or at least substantially prevented, is disposed.

  • Patent number: 8966869
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for filling thin wall food containers, in particular beverage cans, which are eventually closed gas-tight and have an inner pressure that is above ambient pressure for stabilizing the food container. The method includes the steps of providing the food container with an open filling orifice in a filling station; filling the food container in the filling station; covering the filling orifice of the food container with a lid directly after completing the filling process; fixating the lid at the food container without closing the food container gas-tight; and transporting the food container with the filling opening covered.
