Patent number: 11946848Abstract: For analyzing a sample containing particles of at least two categories, such as a sample containing blood cells, a particle counter subject to a detection limit is coupled with an analyzer capable of discerning particle number ratios, such as a visual analyzer, and a processor. A first category of particles can be present beyond detection range limits while a second category of particles is present within respective detection range limits. The concentration of the second category of particles is determined by the particle counter. A ratio of counts of the first category to the second category is determined on the analyzer. The concentration of particles in the first category is calculated on the processor based on the ratio and the count or concentration of particles in the second category.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2022Date of Patent: April 2, 2024Assignee: Iris International, Inc.Inventors: Thomas H. Patent number: 7461381Abstract: A communications services network platform has a multi-layered software architecture residing on a host computer. The network platform connects to a communications network and includes a call processing stack, a link layer, and a service support subsystem. The call processing stack implements call processing by processing events associated with a communication path through the communications network and has an application layer, representing each active call being processed by the call processing stack, and a resource layer, including software abstractions of physical resources located outside the host computer. The link layer manages a communications link between physically connected physical resources and the call processing stack. The service support subsystem executes services requested by the call processing stack. The platform manages and controls communications events associated with the communication path to complete a request for services between nodes on the communication network.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2003Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: AT&T Labs, Inc.Inventors: Thomas L. Adams, Will R. Chorley, Philip C. Cunetto, James M. Doherty, John E. Lemay, Stephen M. Mueller, Satish Parolkar, Timothy P. Schroeder, Charles B. Slaten

Patent number: 6724875Abstract: A flexible network platform and call processing system are disclosed. The call processing system includes a particular call processing architecture and a resource managing system which allow new services to be implemented rapidly. An OAM&P subsystem and systems for performing data provisioning and service creation are each provided for use with the disclosed call processing system. The call processing system may include a call processing mechanism for performing call processing in accordance with defined service logic, and call processing resources connected to the call processing mechanism. The call processing resources are designed so that any service logic unit may be linked to any particular event that might occur in connection with the call processing system. A resource managing system is also disclosed for assigning resources for use by a call processing system. A resource is assigned in response to a request made by the call processing system specified capability.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1997Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: SBC Technology Resources, Inc.Inventors: Thomas L. Patent number: 4454576Abstract: A system for use in an electronic digital signal processor for assembling multiple report definition instructions to create a shell document to generate a file report. The system enables an operator to depress an instruction key to call up an instruction menu and select for display the report definition instruction menu. The operator chooses report instructions desired in any order, and the system inserts chosen instructions in proper order to build the shell document. The operator keys report information in between the instructions. The shell document is stored in machine-dependent language to enable the document to be redisplayed in operator-dependent language as determined by the current program loaded in the processor.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1981Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: John W. Patent number: 4454592Abstract: The specification discloses a word processing system having a keyboard (10), a display (20), a processor (14) and a random access memory (22) for storing data and programs. The display (20) includes a first text area (24) wherein text entered through the keyboard is displayed. The display also includes a prompt line (26) through which all input between the operator and the word processing system occurs. The system provides deadkey compression wherein the depression of selected deadkeys on the keyboard causes the automatic generation of a required backspace in order to enable the construction of a diacritic character and the display of the constructed diacritic character in either the text display area (24) or the prompt line (26).Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1980Date of Patent: June 12, 1984Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: William C.
