  • Patent number: 9616898
Abstract: A vehicle system includes a computer in a vehicle, and the computer includes a processor and a memory. The computer is configured to determine an operational state of a vehicle, calculate a road grade value from data from a first sensor, calculate an effective road grade value from a torque demand value, update modeling variables to map the road grade value substantially to the effective grade value when the operation state is determined to be a steady-state condition, and calculate a road grade characteristic with the road grade value and the modeling variables.

  • Publication number: 20170082191
Abstract: A vehicle implements a method of selecting gear ratios that utilizes two shift schedules, one for flat terrain and one for hilly terrain. Initially, the vehicle switches between the shift schedules based on estimation of the road gradient of a recently traversed route. When the vehicle switched between the shift schedules, the vehicle stores location information associated with the switch. When stored information about previous shift schedule switches is available, the information is utilized, in combination with navigation system data, to switch shift schedules at more appropriate times.

  • Publication number: 20160368435
Abstract: Disclosures teach providing data over a vehicle bus, data providing values for a road attribute indexed to points anticipated to be traversed by a vehicle. To compress the data, a server may fit a regression function to the data with coefficients applied to kernels in the function. The server may limit the number of coefficients to reflect a limitation on rate of change imposed on data by the road on which it reports. Similarly, the server may limit one or more numbers of bits encoding the coefficients in a message transmitted on the vehicle bus, reflective of a limited range of potential amplitudes for data imposed by the road. A client may maintain a copy of the kernels and retrieve the coefficients from the message. The client may estimate future values of the road attribute by evaluating the coefficients applied to the kernels, which may, in some examples, be Gaussian.

  • Patent number: 8739070
Abstract: A method for providing an application carousel includes providing a self-service website for a third party partner supplier to create, select or group apps in a unique app carousel created by the supplier in the website. Blogs, reviews or comments may be provided in association with a GUI of the app carousel to promote the app carousel. The supplier populates the app carousel with app icons which may be rotated about a looped carousel display track. The app carousel is then exposed for location by consumers via their electronic devices and associated browsers.

  • Publication number: 20090265740
Abstract: A storefront for accessing digital media and services is provided. The storefront is installed on an interactive media service device. The storefront displays a list of digital media and services to a user based on the configuration of the interactive media service device and the user profile and preferences. The storefront is connected to a consolidated content catalog containing different types of the digital media. Storefront allows the user to view, browse, select, order and authorize payment for the digital media and services displayed on the screen or menu of the interactive media service device.

  • Patent number: 7591592
Abstract: A journal for coupling a wheel to an axle includes a main body portion and a separate locking element mounted to the main body portion. The locking element includes a locking arm and an integral resilient leaf spring. The locking element is pivotable about a pivot axis A-A extending through a pair of pivot extensions between a release position and a secured position. In the release position, the axle is movable into and out of a reception space within the main body portion. In this release position, the leaf spring bears against the main body portion to bias the locking arm towards the secured position. In the secured position, the locking arm engages with a groove in the axle to secure the axle in position in the reception space.

  • Publication number: 20070213773
Abstract: A method and apparatus to provide therapy to a patient for protecting cardiac tissue from insult is disclosed. The method comprises delivering electrical stimulation to one or more predetermined portions of the nervous system in a patient's body; and monitoring one or more physiologic indices of the body to determine whether the delivered therapy is effective. That is, a closed-loop feedback controller is used to apply electrical stimulation to preselected regions of the patient's body, and then the physiologic response of the patient is monitored to determine the efficacy of the stimulation.

  • Publication number: 20070213777
Abstract: Pacing parameters are provided to address cross talk and intrinsic ventricular events occurring within a predefined blanking period following an atrial event. The parameters are used in conjunction with protocol for minimizing or reducing ventricular pacing, wherein ignoring intrinsic ventricular events during the blanking period might otherwise affect the performance of the protocol.

  • Publication number: 20070191892
Abstract: The disclosure provides methods and apparatus of left ventricular pacing including automated adjustment of a atrio-ventricular (AV) pacing delay interval and intrinsic AV nodal conduction testing. It includes—upon expiration or reset of a programmable AV Evaluation Interval (AVEI)—performing the following: temporarily increasing a paced AV interval and a sensed AV interval and testing for adequate AV conduction and measuring an intrinsic atrio-ventricular (PR) interval for a right ventricular (RV) chamber. Thus, in the event that the AV conduction test reveals a physiologically acceptable intrinsic PR interval then storing the physiologically acceptable PR interval in a memory structure (e.g., a median P-R from one or more cardiac cycles). In the event that the AV conduction test reveals an AV conduction block condition or if unacceptably long PR intervals are revealed then a pacing mode-switch to a bi-ventricular (Bi-V) pacing mode occurs and the magnitude of the AVEI is increased.
