  • Patent number: 8127575
Abstract: A moisture wicking fabric has one side comprised substantially entirely of inherently hydrophobic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene and the other side comprised of a mixture of hydrophobic fibers such as polyester or polypropylene and hydrophilic fibers, particularly cellulosic fibers such as cotton, lyocell and viscose rayon. A garment can be formed from such a moisture wicking fabric, for example by the whole garment knitting method, the side comprised of the mixture of fibers being the external side of the garment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 22, 2006
Date of Patent: March 6, 2012
    Assignee: Lenzing Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Thomas Richard Burrow, Heinrich Firgo

  • Patent number: 6136432
Abstract: A sewing thread consists of from 70 to 95 percent by weight of lyocell fibre and from 5 to 30 percent by weight of at least one synthetic fibre such as polyester or polyamide. The sewing thread can be used for sewing garments, particularly those comprising a major proportion of cellulosic fibres, and can be dyed with a dyestuff for cellulose.

  • Patent number: 6075177
Abstract: A wound dressing has its wound-contacting surface composed of a tow or strand of textile filaments at least 15 mm long or a fabric of textile filaments at least 3 mm long, substantially all of the filaments being non-crosslinked carboxymethylcellulose filaments capable of absorbing at least 15 times their own weight of 0.9% aqueous saline solution. The wound-contacting surface forms a swollen, transparent gel which retains sufficient fibrous character to be removable as a coherent dressing from the wound.

  • Patent number: 5667501
Abstract: A wound dressing comprises a chemically modified polymer which has a free radical activity in the DPPH Test in the range 15-80 percent. It may comprise a chemically modified polymer which carries at least one chemical group which is a persistent free radical or a precursor therefor. It may comprise a chemically modified polymer which carries at least one chemical group capable of reacting with molecular oxygen in a wound environment to form hydrogen peroxide. It may comprise a chemically modified polymer capable of stimulating the activity of macrophages or the proliferation of fibroblasts or both in a wound environment.
