Two light-emitting diodes are arranged in a segment. In addition, a lighting system and a motor vehicle are provided.

The system and method also comprise a transceiving arrangement (16) that receives the reading signal (40) communication from the transmission element. Persistence weighting values for different environmental parameters may be applied to improve the reliability of the correlation.
