  • Patent number: 5741064
Abstract: A lighting fixture with a socket base having a closed and cool running back which reduces the amount of heat transferred to the area behind the lamp socket base and allows lower temperature rated wires to be used in the installation of the lamp socket base. The lamp socket base has raised lugs on which the lamp socket rests. A gasket is placed around or between the lamp socket and the lamp socket base and another gasket is placed between the lamp socket base and the wall or ceiling box. The lamp socket base is constructed as one piece such as from a casting. All of these features help to reduce the amount of heat transferred from the lamp socket to the other side of the lamp socket base and also to the wires in the area behind the lamp socket base.

  • Patent number: 5339234
Abstract: The apparatus is a light fixture with a base unit and a socket assembly unit. The socket assembly unit includes a male element which includes laterally opposed parallel notches and a peripheral ring with radial teeth surrounding a least a portion thereof. The male element is inserted into a slot in the base unit and a spring steel clip is engaged between the laterally opposed parallel notches thereby urging a V-shaped protrusion against the radial teeth of the ring and providing a rotating ratchet function for the socket assembly unit.

  • Patent number: 5309341
Abstract: A light fixture includes a symmetric trough-shaped lens with a first longitudinal side which is substantially clear and a second longitudinal side with prismatic elements. The lens is reversibly mounted with brackets including parallel tines with pairs of opposing protuberances which fit into slots in the fixture. Side reflectors are optionally inserted into the lens inwardly adjacent from the end walls in order to adjust the light distribution pattern.

  • Patent number: 5307254
Abstract: The lighting fixture includes a mounting box and a component assembly. The mounting box can be oriented in a first direction for a recessed box mounting and wiring configuration or in a second direction (180.degree. from the first direction) for a surface conduit mounting and wiring configuration. The mounting box is mounted first and initial wiring connections are made, then component assembly is mounted on the mounting box.

  • Patent number: 5249110
Abstract: A light fixture includes a primary double arcuate buttocks-shaped reflector facing either a secondary double arcuate buttocks-shaped ("baby's bottom") reflector or a sieve-like reflector with lateral heat fins with a bulb therebetween. This system of reflectors emanates a large percentage of the visible light while absorbing a substantial percentage of the radiant energy and dissipating this radiant energy through the metal frame of the light fixture. The bracket for the socket for the bulb includes two parallel slots, perpendicular to the reflectors, to allow the bulb to be positioned between the reflectors.

  • Patent number: 4760511
Abstract: A light fixture is provided having a mounting base and a housing. The base and housing are connected to each other by an arm that extends from a corner of the top of one to a corner of a side of the other. This arrangement permits the base to rotate with respect to the housing between a position wherein the housing is generally parallel to the base to a position wherein the base is generally perpendicular to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4760508
Abstract: A modular light fixture is provided comprising a ballast housing, socket plate and lens assembly. The socket plate includes an inclined portion containing a socket hole and an adjacent flat portion through which mounting holes extend so that the socket may be mounted either on the incline or generally perpendicular to the flat portion. The socket assembly includes mounting means which are generally symmetrical about a horizontal axis of the plate so that either face of the plate may receive the socket. A boss containing a pin hole is provided at a corner of the plate aligned with a flange on an associated reflector housing. When the pin is in position, it prevents an inappropriate lens assembly from being positioned on the ballast housing.

  • Patent number: 4527224
Abstract: A high intensity flood light fixture is provided consisting of a ballast housing and a reflector housing which are rotatably mounted with respect to each other. Indexing means are provided about the joint between the housings and also about an opening in the ballast housing adapted to receive a mounting tenon. A unique strain relief is provided for the power cord to the fixture which also serves as a water tight seal for the power cord.

  • Patent number: 4489368
Abstract: A high intensity discharge light fixture is provided wherein the conventional gaskets are replaced by joints which prevent water from entering the fixture but permit free air flow. The joints are formed by components, at least one of which terminates in a U-shaped section and the other of which interdigitates with the U-shaped section. The leg of the U-shaped section directed toward the fixture interior is longer than the leg directed away from the fixture thereby providing a water barrier.

  • Patent number: 4378584
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a hanging light fixture is provided wherein the fixture is connected to a power housing through an electric cord and hook arrangement. A plug on the cord along with surfaces of the fixture and power housing prevent the hooks from being disengaged prior to the electric cord being disconnected from a power receptacle.
