  • Patent number: 4153482
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for joining two metal surfaces together with solder in which the surfaces to be soldered are first treated with an organic phosphorus-containing liquid flux which is relatively non-corrosive and which has a high degree of lubricity.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 15, 1977
Date of Patent: May 8, 1979
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Robert A. Stayner, Richard C. Fox, Thornton K. Jones
  • Patent number: 4113525
Abstract: Wax-flux compositions for use in soldering processes comprising: (a) a major amount of a wax; and (b) an effective amount to cause fluxing, at or below the temperature of the piece to be soldered, of a wax-dispersible C.sub.12 to C.sub.28 aliphatic carboxylic acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 1977

Inventors: Robert A. Stayner, Richard C. Fox, Thornton K. Jones
  • Patent number: 4113526
Abstract: Wax-flux compositions for use in soldering processes comprising: (a) a major amount of a wax; and (b) an effective amount to cause fluxing, at or below the temperature of the piece to be soldered, of a wax-soluble, phosphorus-containing acid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 1977
Date of Patent: September 12, 1978
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Robert A. Stayner, Richard C. Fox, Thornton K. Jones
  • Patent number: 4106958
Abstract: Disclosed is a wax-flux composition and a process for making a wax-flux composition comprising a normally solid chlorinated wax having a chlorine content below about 60 weight percent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 1977
Date of Patent: August 15, 1978
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Robert A. Stayner, Richard C. Fox, Thornton K. Jones
  • Patent number: 3940233
Abstract: A lead-free candle wick composition comprising a combustible wick and a stiffening agent is disclosed. The stiffening agent comprises a substantially wax-insoluble polymer or copolymer which has a Vicat softening point at least 2.5.degree.C. higher than the melting point of the candle wax and which depolymerizes or pyrolyzes to substantially completely combustible products at a temperature above said melting point and at or below the temperature of the candle flame.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 1974
Date of Patent: February 24, 1976
    Assignee: Chevron Research Company
Inventors: Richard C. Fox, Thornton K. Jones
