Patent number: 7139659Abstract: A method for developing traffic messages for broadcast is disclosed. Data indicating a plurality of traffic conditions on a road network are obtained. For each of the traffic conditions, the data provides a start location at which the traffic condition begins and an end location at which the traffic condition ends. For each of the traffic conditions, a road length from the start location to the end location is determined. The traffic conditions are assigned a priority based upon the road lengths. The data indicating the traffic conditions are transmitted in the assigned priority as a plurality of traffic messages.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2005Date of Patent: November 21, 2006Assignee: Navteq North America, LLCInventors: Lumumba Mbekeani, Eric Groth, Timothy McGrath

Patent number: 7096115Abstract: A method for developing traffic messages is disclosed. Data indicating traffic speed at a plurality of locations on a road network are obtained. Each of the locations is assigned a unique location reference code. The data indicating traffic speed for the location reference codes assigned to locations along a road of the road network are evaluated. Locations reference codes along the road having related traffic speeds are grouped into at least one congestion event along the road. The congestion events are transmitted as traffic messages.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2003Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Navteq North America, LLCInventors: Eric Groth, Timothy McGrath, Lumumba Mbekeani, Christopher S. Publication number: 20060046744Abstract: A system and method for securely delivering the location information of a mobile device to a location consumer is presented. In operation, the mobile device user issues a license to a location consumer. The license identifies the location consumer and any conditions the mobile device user places on the license. The license is encrypted such that it cannot be modified without invalidating the license. The license is submitted in a location request by the location consumer. A location information server receives the request, validates that the license was issued to the location consumer and that the location request conforms to the conditions of the license. If so, the location information server obtains the mobile device's location information, generates a location response, encrypts some of the location response, and returns the location response to the location consumer.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 27, 2004Publication date: March 2, 2006Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Pratul Dublish, Timothy McGrath

Publication number: 20050253906Abstract: A bulk ink feed system for an inkjet printer comprising a plurality of reservoirs coupled by a plurality of conduits through a plurality of inlet connectors on an ink cartridge carrier of an inkjet printer. The plurality of conduits contain an accumulator section adjacent the coupler. The accumulator section has a larger volume than the remainder of the conduit, which inhibits the reverse flow of ink from the accumulator section toward the reservoir section when the inkjet printer is not in use.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 2004Publication date: November 17, 2005Inventors: Timothy McGrath, Patrick Moore

Patent number: 6761191Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for a liquid filling system is herein disclosed incorporating means for generating greater overall production rate efficiencies (i.e. number of filled containers per minute per filling station) for automatic systems utilizing diverter valve and/or walking beam (i.e. continuous-motion) filling technologies with, for example, non-traditional ratios between the number of filling stations and the number of filling nozzles. The methods/apparatus disclosed herein also incorporate means to more efficiently changeover and clean up, in either a clean-in-place (CIP) or clean-out-of-place (COP) configuration, the product contact parts that become “dirty” when used in a production environment. Finally, an improved method and apparatus designed to provide a means for priming and air purging the product contact path of liquid filling machinery, a fill volume calibration procedure, and a fill weight verification cycle is also herein described.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2001Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Inventors: Robert A. Rosen, Joseph Spiteri-Gonzi, Richard N. Bennett, Timothy McGrath, Shailendra K. Parihar, George R. Dold, Richard Mozelack

Patent number: 6741932Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that provide traffic information to end users. The traffic information is contained in traffic data messages that use location reference codes to identify locations along roads. A data structure is formed that relates a set of location reference codes assigned to locations along roads by a first data supplier to another set of location reference codes assigned locations along roads by a second data supplier. The data structure is used to form traffic data messages containing location reference codes assigned by the first data supplier based on traffic data messages containing location reference codes assigned by the second data supplier.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2002Date of Patent: May 25, 2004Assignee: Navigation Technologies Corp.Inventors: Eric Groth, Suzanne McGrath, Timothy McGrath, Lumumba Mbekeani

Patent number: 6494017Abstract: An improved process and configuration for multi-function in-case filling and capping. A multi-lane embodiment is provided in which cases of empty containers are received from one or more upstream conveyor loading processes. Each case's major and minor flaps are opened, and each case is directed to flap control rails for maintaining the flaps in an open position throughout the filling and capping process. Each open case is inspected to confirm that the containers are present and are properly oriented within each case, while any improperly loaded cases are rejected from the system. The cases are then diverted into the least backlogged of a series of processing lanes, where the individual containers are filled. Screw thread caps or other closures are then applied to the containers, and the cases of filled containers converge back together in a single discharge lane.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2000Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Inventors: Timothy McGrath, John G. Grosskopf

Patent number: 6487559Abstract: A system and method of providing incremental updates for a geographical data set for use in navigation systems. The system and method include organizing updates of geographical data set into a series of transactions. Each of the transactions includes a transaction identifier that uniquely identifies the transaction, and n steps to be applied to the geographical data set to complete the transaction. All the steps of the transaction are required to be successfully applied in order for the transaction to be completed, otherwise, the entire transaction is not applied.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2001Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: Navigation Technologies CorporationInventors: Timothy McGrath, John Jasper, James Herbst

Patent number: 5797842Abstract: A steerable catheter includes a handle, an elongated catheter body, a steering tube formed by an elongated coiled spring, the steering tube having a distal end that terminates short of the distal end of the catheter, and a steering spring having a bendable portion extending outside the distal end of the steering tube for bending the distal end of the catheter in response to an applied force exerted by one or more steering wires. A controller is positioned on the handle and attached to the steering wire, for applying tension. At least one and preferably two sleeves of polymeric material are heat shrunk around a part, but not all of the length of the distal portion of the catheter which extends distally from the elongated coiled spring. The bending characteristics of the catheter are modified by the length, and thickness of the sleeves as well as the physical characteristics of the polymer used. The preferred polymeric material is a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1996Date of Patent: August 25, 1998Assignee: E.P.
