Abstract: A method and apparatus for sorting is described, and which includes providing a product stream formed of individual objects of interest having feature aspects which can be detected; generating multiple images of each of the respective objects of interest; classifying the feature aspects of the objects of interest; identifying complementary images by analyzing some of the multiplicity of images; fusing the complementary images to form an aggregated region representation of the complementary images; and sorting the respective objects of interest based at least in part upon the aggregated region representation which is formed.

Abstract: An easy to carry lightweight carton for shipping and storing cut paper and for providing rapid and easy access to the paper when the carton is opened. The carton has a base portion and a lid pivotally attached to the base portion. A front wall of the carton may be pivoted down when the lid is pivoted up to facilitate access to the contents of the carton for ease of unloading of paper from the carton. A carry handle is built into the lid to facilitate carrying of the carton. The carton may be re-closed after it is opened.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present invention, a container is provided for shipping a plurality of items, such as pre-wrapped reams of cut-sized paper, more particularly, a container for shipping items is provided, comprising: a base portion sized to receive a plurality of items therein; a lid portion sized to fit over the base portion, thereby enclosing the plurality of items therein; wherein at least a portion of either the base portion or the lid portion includes a break-away section for at least partially opening the container to permit removal of at least one of the plurality of items therefrom.

Abstract: A package according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a main body portion defined by a bottom wall and one or more upstanding sidewalls. The sidewalls cooperate to define an open top of the main body portion of the package. A lid is provided and is defined by a top wall and one or more downwardly-depending sidewalls. The lid is sized to fit over the open top of the main body portion of the package. At least one sidewall of the lid is secured to at least one sidewall of the main body portion. At least one sidewall of the lid includes a take-up strip positioned between the top wall and a distal edge of the at least one lid sidewall. The take-up strip permits movement of the lid relative to the main body portion without separating the at least one lid sidewall from the main body portion sidewall to which it is secured.
