  • Patent number: 10762144
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for search engine domain transfer. The mechanism receives an input query to search a specialized domain from a user and performs a general-domain search based on the input query to generate a set of general-domain results. The mechanism generates a feature vector based on the general-domain results and generates a score for each document within the specialized domain based on the feature vector. The mechanism generates a ranked result set of documents based on the scores of the documents in the specialized domain and presents the ranked result set to the user.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 1, 2020
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: Tin K. Ho, Luis A. Lastras-Montano, Vinith Misra

  • Patent number: 9256955
Abstract: A system and method processes visual information including at least one object in motion. The visual information is processed by locating at least one spatial edge of the object, generating a plurality of spatio-temporal gradients for the at least one spatial edge over N frames, and then generating motion blur images from the spatio-temporal gradients. A regression analysis is performed on the motion blur images to determine direction of motion information of the object, and scene activity vectors are then generated for the N frames based on the direction of motion information. An event is detected in the visual information based on the scene activity vectors.

  • Publication number: 20150119086
Abstract: A system and method for providing localization and mapping within an environment includes at least one mobile device adapted to be moved within the environment. The at least one mobile device includes an inertial measurement unit and at least one radio frequency receiver. The at least one mobile device detects inertial measurements through the inertial measurement unit and values of signal strength through the at least one radio frequency receiver. The system and method also includes a localization module that provides simultaneous localization and mapping of the at least one mobile device within the environment based at least on the inertial measurements detected by the inertial measurement unit and the values of signal strength detected by the at least one radio frequency receiver.

  • Publication number: 20130054816
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for determining the validity of SIP messages, such as self-similar messages, without parsing the message. A SIP message is processed by creating a feature vector matrix of the SIP message; processing the feature vector matrix using a plurality of classifiers; combining results generated by the plurality of classifiers to obtain a combined result; and processing the SIP message based on the combined result. The plurality of classifiers can be trained on a training data set. The SIP message can optionally be classified, for example, as a normal message or an anomalous message based on the combined result. In addition, the SIP message can optionally be processed or rejected based on the combined result. The results generated by the plurality of classifiers are combined using a combination function, such as a voting rule or a logistic regression.
