  • Publication number: 20030213911
Abstract: A method for measuring a concentration of a hydroperoxide of an alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in a process stream comprises immersing a probe into the process stream; wherein the probe is coupled to a spectrometer; collecting absorption data with the spectrometer at a wavelength of 13,000 cm−1 to 4,000 cm−1; and calculating a concentration of the hydroperoxide of the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in the process stream. In another embodiment, samples are withdrawn from the process stream and analyzed spectrometrically to determine the concentration of the hydroperoxide of the alkylaromatic hydrocarbon in the sample.

  • Patent number: 6637560
Abstract: The invention provides a vehicle damper assembly and a method for modulating fluid flow through the same. The assembly includes a housing including a fluid carried therein. A piston is slidably carried in the housing and includes a ring and a core. At least one gap to allow fluid flow is formed between the ring and core. A rod is operably attached to the piston. The ring moves axially with respect to the core to vary the gap size and modulate fluid flow during operation of the assembly. The method includes axially moving a ring with respect to a core during assembly operation. At least one gap size is varied based on the axial movement, wherein the gap is formed between the ring and core.

  • Patent number: 6592112
Abstract: A mount assembly for a vehicle suspension strut includes a mount plate assembly having upper and lower plate members secured together and supporting a cushion member. The cushion member is secured to a retainer which is secured directly to a damper piston rod or through a bearing assembly. Multiple load paths may be provided by a bumper mounted on a spring seat member secured to the piston rod and engageable with the lower plate of the plate assembly for transferring jounce loads directly to the vehicle body structure. The steering bearing may be mounted to engage the lower plate for transferring loads directly through the bearing and the lower plate to the body structure. The plate assembly may include a composite upper plate member.

  • Publication number: 20030106752
Abstract: The invention provides a vehicle damper assembly including a housing including a fluid carried therein, a piston slidably carried in the housing, and a rod operably attached to the piston. The piston includes a curved portion positioned adjacent a housing inner surface. The invention further provides a vehicle damper assembly including housing means for carrying a fluid, piston means from reducing binding contact with the housing means, and rod means for moving the piston means. The invention further provides a method of reducing binding contact in a vehicle damper assembly. A longitudinal radius is determined for a piston based on a housing inner surface. The piston is formed with a curved portion based on the longitudinal radius. The curved portion is positioned adjacent the housing inner surface.

  • Patent number: 6161822
Abstract: A damper mount assembly includes a lower plate that is substantially rigid and has a main body with a first end and a second end. The main body includes a first engagement surface near the first end and includes a support surface between the first and second ends. An upper plate is fixed relative to the lower plate and includes a central opening and a second engagement surface engaging the first engagement surface. A single attachment stud extends through the central opening connecting the mount to a vehicle body tower. A resilient cushion assembly is compressed between the upper plate and the lower plate and engages the support surface. The resilient cushion assembly carries a rigid structural insert that has a mounting opening and the rigid structural insert is movable relative to both the upper plate and the lower plate by deformation of the resilient cushion assembly.

  • Patent number: 6120218
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool having a mounting portion with a plurality of mounting sections, each having a radially aligned pocket to receive a cutting insert. There is a positioning and actuating assembly by which a related wedge block can be positioned in its related pocket in wedging engagement with its cutter insert. The side walls of each pocket converge in a radially outward direction so that centrifugal force of the rotating causes the wedge blocks and the cutters to come into a firmer wedging engagement. The positioning and holding assembly can be moved from its retaining position to permit individual cutting inserts to be moved or replaced. A center bolt assembly moves a central portion of the positioning and holding assembly vertically so as to cause retaining arms to move into and out of retaining engagement with related wedge blocks.
