Publication number: 20230069469Abstract: Plasticizer compositions are prepared by reacting a vegetal oil with isopentyl alcohol to provide a glyceride/fatty ester composition comprising from about from about 40 to about 80% wt isopentyl fatty acid ester, and reacting the glyceride/fatty ester composition with acetic anhydride to form an acetylated glyceride/fatty ester composition. The vegetal oil may be epoxidized before the reaction with isopentyl alcohol, or the acetylated glyceride/fatty ester composition first prepared and then epoxidized. Epoxidized acetylated glyceride/fatty ester plasticizer compositions are also described. Alternatively, plasticizer compositions are prepared by preparing a C4-C10 fatty ester composition separately from acetylated glyceride composition and mixing the compositions in a weight ratio of 3:7 to 7:3. The C4-C10 fatty ester composition and the acetylated glyceride composition may be epoxidized either before or after mixing.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2021Publication date: March 2, 2023Applicant: CARGILL, INCORPORATEDInventors: Oreste Valdir BARALDI FILHO, Fabio Angelo BRUCOLI, Marcos Cesar FERNANDEZ, Todd L.
