Publication number: 20220389784Abstract: An electric bonnet includes a housing; a guide piston disposed in the housing; an electric motor having a motor shaft; a rear housing connected to the housing; a gearbox assembly disposed in the rear housing, the gearbox assembly being coupled to the motor shaft of the electric motor; and a roller screw assembly disposed in the rear housing. A first end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the gearbox assembly, and a second end of the roller screw assembly is connected to the guide piston. Rotation of the motor shaft of the electric motor transmits rotary motion to the gearbox assembly, which transforms the rotary motion into linear motion using the roller screw assembly. The linear motion of the roller screw assembly actuates the guide piston.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 2, 2022Publication date: December 8, 2022Inventors: Suman Katanguri, Todor K. Publication number: 20200256144Abstract: A technique facilitates intervention operations in many types of wells including horizontal, multi-zone wells. According to an embodiment, a completion is deployed in a borehole, e.g. a deviated wellbore. The completion comprises a side pocket mandrel having a docking station. In some embodiments, the completion may comprise a plurality of the side pocket mandrels A device, such as an electrically powered device, is removably deployed in the docking station. When the docking station receives the electrically powered device, an inductive coupler or other suitable electric coupler may be used to provide power to the electrically powered device while deployed in the docking station. Publication number: 20170145760Abstract: A method for conveying an interventional tool downhole in a substantially self-piloting fashion. The method includes moving the tool in the well while using a communicative conveyance line coupled to a winch at the oilfield surface. Thus, real-time readings regarding downhole tool speed, line tension, etc. may be analyzed at surface and utilized to adjust the moving of the tool in an ongoing feedback loop. As a result, the adjustments are made based on true circumstances downhole as opposed to surface-based readings which may otherwise be less accurate. Therefore, efficiency of the operations may be maximized, operator time freed and the likelihood of catastrophic line based failures reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2014Publication date: May 25, 2017Inventors: Jean-Pierre Poyet, Todor K. Publication number: 20160237812Abstract: A system for delivering a fiber optic slickline through a deviated well with a battery powered tractor. The system includes a tractor having an efficiency rating of at least about 30% so as to adequately serve as a conveyance aid without the requirement of surface supplied power. For example, regulating of drive sections of the tractor may take place through a hydraulic section. Thus, arms of the tractor may be hydraulically locked in an open position without the requirement of continuous power to maintain the arms in an open position. At the same time, however, the hydraulic section may include accumulator capacity so as to allow for temporary responsive collapse of the arms for sake of navigating a restriction in the well.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2013Publication date: August 18, 2016Inventors: Pierre-Arnaud Foucher, Matthew Billingham, Todor K. Publication number: 20140318867Abstract: A downhole tractor assembly that is configured for open-hole applications and of a self-aligning nature. The self-aligning nature of the assembly is effectuated through a tractor portion which is rotable about an axis of an elongated body of the assembly independent of a separate centralizing portion of the assembly. That is, the tractor portion, configured for interfacing an open-hole well wall of potentially irregular morphology, is independently rotable so as to maintain a position of substantially optimized driving friction at the interface during tractoring. Maintenance of optimized driving friction in this manner may occur irrespective of the orientation of the centralizing portion of the assembly.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2014Publication date: October 30, 2014Inventors: Franz Aguirre, Todor K. Sheiretov, Keith R. Nelson
