    Abstract: A heating apparatus of an electromagnetic induction heating type includes a coil and a roller which generates heat by the action of magnetic flux generated from the coil. A recording material is heated by the roller. The heating apparatus further includes a movable magnetic flux decreasing member for decreasing magnetic flux, generated from the coil, acting on the roller. In the heating apparatus, a shutter is moved toward an effective position at which a temperature in a non-conveyance area is lowered when a recording material having a size lower than a maximum conveyable size is conveyed, and is moved away from the effective position depending on the temperature in the non-conveyance area, irrespective of the size of the recording material to be conveyed.

The reproducing apparatus is arranged to angle-demodulate the angle-modulated information signal when it is reproduced from the recording medium, and to perform time base correction on the basis of the signal part of the angle-modulated information signal. Time base variations occurring during the reproduction can be accurately carried out by the arrangement without having any special signal added to the information signal during recording.

    Abstract: An image signal recording and reproducing system is arranged to record on a recording medium an image signal composed of a chrominance signal and a luminance signal which includes a synchronizing signal in the following manner: The luminance signal is modulated into a first frequency band. The chrominance signal is modulated into a second frequency band. A pilot signal is formed in such a way as to have a frequency between the first and a second frequency bands and to be phase-locked to the syncrhonizing signal included in the luminance signal. A signal obtained by frequency-multiplexing the modulated luminance signal, the modulated chrominance signal and the pilot signal is recorded on the recording medium. In reproducing the recorded signal, time-base variations occurred during the process of reproduction in the reproduced luminance and chrominance signals are corrected by using the reproduced pilot signals.
