  • Patent number: 9075808
Abstract: A server provides an information record comprising selected information related to an image depicted in a digital photograph. The server may comprise a database and a recognition application. The database may store, in association with each of a plurality of subject matters: i) recognition data for recognizing the subject matter within an image; and ii) information related to the subject matter. The recognition application may receive a request from a remote client system. The request comprises a digital image embodying at least a portion of a digital photograph. The recognition application applies recognition data to the digital image to determine a selected subject matter. The selected subject matter is the subject matter depicted in the digital image. The recognition application further obtains selected information from the database. The selected information may be the information related to the selected subject matter. A response is then returned to the remote client system.

  • Patent number: 8725727
Abstract: Internet websites that are popular for users in a specific location are determined and displayed to a user of an electronic device. The popularity information may be of benefit to users in the location or to users of inherently portable devices, such as a mobile telephone or a laptop computer, that travel to the location. In one embodiment, position data relating to devices used to access websites is used to establish statistics regarding the most visited websites based on location. For instance, positioning data may be added to “webpage look-up/URL requests” that are made by the devices. This data may be transmitted to a server for deriving of the statistics.

  • Patent number: 8656294
Abstract: A user interface (UI) for a text editing application executing on an electronic device, such as a wireless communication device, partitions a touch-sensitive display into two functional areas, a user input area and a text composition area. The UI displays text output in the text composition area and allows a user to scroll “user documents” through the input area. From an active user document displayed in the input area, users can automatically copy-and-paste text directly into a text area without having to exit the text editing application.

  • Patent number: 8233886
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for accessing data objects stored in a communication device are disclosed. An exemplary method comprises detecting a trigger event related to a remote communications party, retrieving contact data from a contacts database using a party identifier corresponding to the remote communications party, searching for stored data objects associated with the remote communications party, using the contact data as search parameters, and displaying the results of the search. The method may further include ranking the data objects by relevancy and formatting the display according to the ranking.
