Patent number: 6846260Abstract: In an automatic transmission having a torque converter with a pump impeller, a turbine runner, and a stator, a stator shaft is provided to support the stator on its outer periphery and to rotatably support a transmission input shaft on its inner periphery. A magnetostrictive torque sensor is provided to detect the magnitude of input torque transmitted to the transmission input shaft. The magnetostrictive torque sensor includes a magnetic material having a magnetostrictive property and attached onto the outer periphery of the transmission input shaft, and a cylindrical magnetic-property detector mounted on the inner periphery of the stator shaft and arranged to be opposite to the magnetic material to detect a change in a magnetic property of the magnetic material, occurring owing to the input torque applied to the transmission input shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2002Date of Patent: January 25, 2005Assignee: JATCO LtdInventor: Tomofusa Horiuchi

Patent number: 4474152Abstract: An idle adjusting device for an engine having an air intake passage and a throttle valve disposed in the air intake passage, includes an auxiliary passage communicating with the air intake passage in such a manner as to bypass the throttle valve. A first member protrudes into the auxiliary passage so as to locally reduce the cross-sectional area of the auxiliary passage. A second member movably protrudes into the auxiliary passage at a position relatively near the first member so that the first and second members will cooperate to adjust the effective cross-sectional area of the auxiliary passage in accordance with movement of the second member.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1982Date of Patent: October 2, 1984Assignees: Nissan Motor Company, Ltd., Nippon Carburetor Company, Ltd.Inventors: Tomofusa Horiuchi, Yoshiaki Nishi

Patent number: 4449498Abstract: An idle-adjusting device for an engine having an air intake passage and a throttle valve disposed in the air intake passage, includes an auxiliary passage communicating with the air intake passage in such a manner as to bypass the throttle valve. A first variable restriction is provided in the auxiliary passage to adjustably reduce the local cross-sectional area of the auxiliary passage. A second variable restriction is provided in the auxiliary passage downstream of the first restriction to adjustably reduce the local cross-sectional area of the auxiliary passage. The first and second restrictions adjustably determine the effective cross-sectional area of the auxiliary passage.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1982Date of Patent: May 22, 1984Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventor: Tomofusa Horiuchi

Patent number: 4434774Abstract: A vaporizer for a liquefied petroleum gas engine with a cooling system employing coolant, includes a housing having first, second, and third chambers. The housing has a fuel inlet port which is connected to a lower portion of the first chamber to supply the latter with liquid fuel.An upper portion of the first chamber communicates with the second chamber to supply the latter with fuel. The cross-sectional area of the fuel inlet port is smaller than that of the first chamber so that the speeed of fuel flow through the first chamber will be lower than that of fuel flow through the fuel inlet port. The second chamber is in turn connected to the engine to supply the latter with fuel. A valve controls the communication between the first and second chambers to regulate pressure in the second chamber to such a level that liquid fuel will vaporize. The third chamber is connected to the cooling system to be supplied with the coolant.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1982Date of Patent: March 6, 1984Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventor: Tomofusa Horiuchi

Patent number: 4401074Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes an intake air passage provided with a throttle valve, and an idling air passage by-passing the throttle valve and provided with an idling air flow rate adjusting device which includes a variable orifice. The orifice is formed by a stationary plate with an opening, and a movable plate in contact with and slidably movable with respect to the stationary plate. The two plates consist of this sheet material to prevent accumulation onto the surface of the orifice, of dust and oil particles contained in the intake air. The device further includes an adjusting screw connected to the movable plate to move the same with respect to the stationary plate to thereby adjust the opening degree of the opening in the stationary plate.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 1981Date of Patent: August 30, 1983Assignee: Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomofusa Horiuchi, Shoichiro Yokota

Patent number: 4208361Abstract: An automobile is provided with an altitude compensated fuel feed means which comprises a fuel feed circuit with an air bleed orifice, an independent additional air supply passage leading to the fuel feed circuit, an air bleed control valve for opening the additional air supply passage, and a control unit with a manually operable part. The manually operable part is disposed in a passenger compartment. Operative interconnection between the control unit and the air bleed control valve is such that manually operating the manually operable part will cause the air bleed control valve to be opened to permit the entry of additional air into the fuel feed circuit, thereby making altitude compensation of the fuel feed means easy.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1977Date of Patent: June 17, 1980Assignee: Nissan Motor Company, LimitedInventors: Takashi Ushijima, Yoshio Iwasa, Tomofusa Horiuchi
