Abstract: A wood preservative comprising a pyridylpyrimidine compound of the formula ?I! ##STR1## wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group as an active ingredient, which has a high wood-preserving efficacy.

Abstract: There is disclosed a novel isothiazolone derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sup.1 and X.sup.2 are the same or different and are independently hydrogen, chlorine or bromine; and R is haloalkoxy. The isothiazolone derivative is effective as a microbicide. Also disclosed are a microbicidal composition containing the isothiazolone derivative as an active ingredient, and an intermediate compound for use in the production of the isothiazolone derivative.

Abstract: There are disclosed a controlling agent and an antifouling composition against harmful aquatic organisms, which include a particular N-phenylbenzoisothiazolone derivative of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R's are the same or different and are independently halogen, alkyl or alkoxy; n is an integer of 0 to 5; X's are the same or different and are independently halogen, nitro, alkyl or alkoxy; and m is an integer of 0 to 4; with the proviso that when the R's are all alkyl or all alkoxy, n is an integer of 1 to 3, and when all of the R's are different, n is an integer of 2 or 3. Also disclosed is a method for preventing or inhibiting the adhesion of harmful aquatic organisms to water-exposed articles, which includes applying the antifouling composition to the water-exposed articles.

Abstract: An antimicrobial substance containing an ethylene copolymer as an active ingredient and an antimicrobial resin composition containing the ethylene copolymer are disclosed. The ethylene copolymer comprises from 40 to 95% by weight of ethylene, from 5 to 60% by weight of at least one dialkylaminoalkylacrylamide comonomer represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group: R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; and n represents an integer of from 2 to 5, and up to 20% by weight of one or more of other ethylenically unsaturated comonomers, and has a number average molecular weight of from 5,000 to 50,000.

Abstract: A fungicidal composition which comprises as an active ingredient a fungicidally effective amount of the compound represented by the general formula, ##STR1## wherein X, which may be the same or different, represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and n represents an integer of from 1 to 5, and an inert carrier.

Abstract: An amide compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are, the same or different, each a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group and R.sup.3 is a 2-furyl group, a 3-furyl group, a 2-thienyl group or a 3-thienyl group, which is useful as an agricultural fungicide.

Abstract: A compound having a fungicidal activity represented by the general formula, ##STR1## wherein X, which may be the same or different, represents a cyano, nitro, halogenated lower alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy, lower alkoxy-substituted lower alkyl, lower alkenyloxy, lower alkynyloxy, halogenated lower alkoxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl or lower alkylthio group, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2, which may be the same or different, represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Y represents a hydrogen or chlorine atom, m represents an integer of from 1 to 5, and n represents an integer of from 0 to 4, the sum of m and n being less than 6.
