  • Patent number: 6104752
Abstract: A decoding apparatus decodes efficiency coded picture data. The efficiency coded picture data are first decoded per predetermined picture unit, such as slice. The decoded picture data are stored into a memory. Writing and reading to and from the memory are controlled as follows: A writing operation of a first picture unit to the memory starts when a reading operation of a second picture unit from the memory is finished. Here, the second picture unit precedes the first picture unit and display locations of the first and second picture units are identical to each other. The writing operation goes into a waiting mode while the reading operation is being executed.

  • Patent number: 5867176
Abstract: Picture data are reproduced by fast forward (F.F.) or fast backward (F.B.) reproduction from moving picture data including picture frames belonging to the first picture frame group obtained by compressing picture data in accordance with intra-frame method and picture frames belonging to the second picture frame group obtained by compressing picture data in accordance with inter-frame prediction method and further coded at a high efficiency by a high efficiency compression system. During the real time reproduction, an average interval between two adjacent picture frames belonging to the first frame group is obtained. Further, during F.F. or F.B. reproduction, a search start position of a first picture frame to be next reproduced after a second picture frame now being reproduced is set based on the obtained average interval, the first and second picture frames belonging to the first picture frame group, and the first picture frame is started to be searched from the set search start position.

  • Patent number: 4908614
Abstract: An image data output apparatus having a plurality of memories, a plurality of latch circuits corresponding in number to the memories, a data selector, and a timing pulse generator. A plurality of pixel data corresponding to a plurality of pixels constituting an image are stored in the memories. A plurality of read clock signals having different timings are supplied from the timing pulse generator to the memories to read pixel data from the memories at different timings. The read-out pixel data are applied at different timings to the latch circuits. A plurality of latch signals having different timings are supplied from the timing pulse generator to the latch circuits to thereby make definite the pixel data at the latch circuits at different timings. The definite pixel data are supplied to the data selector to which a select signal from the timing pulse generator is applied. Thus, the pixel data are sequentially outputted one after another from the data selector.

  • Patent number: 4757489
Abstract: A rotation control apparatus controls a rotation frequency of a disc which is to be rotated at a constant linear velocity. The rotation control apparatus comprises a circuit for obtaining a first signal having a first frequency proportional to a rotation frequency of the disc, a circuit for comparing the first signal with a second signal having a second frequency which successively increases, and a control device for obtaining a present rotation frequency of the disc from the second signal which is obtained at a time when the first and second frequencies become equal to each other. The control device supplies to a motor which rotates the disc a driving signal which is obtained from the present rotation frequency in a recording mode, so that the disc rotates at the constant linear velocity.

  • Patent number: 4695904
Abstract: An information signal recording disc comprises a first recorded region in which an information signal at least including a video signal is recorded, and a second recorded region in which an end signal is intermittently recorded. The end signal is used to forcibly and automatically return a reproducing element of a disc reproducing apparatus from a playing position to a rest position. The second recorded region is provided at a position prior to the first recorded region in a direction of a reproducing sequence of the recorded signals on the information signal recording disc. The disc reproducing apparatus comprises a detecting circuit for detecting the reproduced end signal, and a controller. The controller controls the detecting circuit so that the detecting circuit is made substantially inoperative in a state where the disc reproducing apparatus is coupled to an external device having a discriminating function.
