  • Patent number: 4593356
Abstract: An electronic translator is featured where a particular sentence is accessed from a memory depending on at least one key word entered. The key word is contained in the particular sentence. A subject category may be selected from a plurality of subject categories and only sentences within the selected category may be searched. The translator comprises an input circuit for entering the key word, and subject category an access means for accessing the key word from the subject category within memory so as to specify and access the sentence, and a detection circuit for detecting whether the key word is accessed from the subject category within memory.

  • Patent number: 4493050
Abstract: An electronic translator is characterized in that a voice memory for storing voice data of translated words is detachably connectable to any one of at least two terminals of the translator. A detection circuit is provided for detecting which of the terminals is occupied by the voice memory. A voice generator through is provided for generation voice synthesization of the voice data of the translated words.

  • Patent number: 4417319
Abstract: An electronic translator comprises an input device for entering one or more first words, a memory device for storing second words equivalent to the first words, an access device for addressing the memory device to cause retrieval of second words equivalent to the input first words, the access means maintaining the order of the second words identical to that of the input first words, and an indicating device responsive to the access device for indicating this kind of order of the second words.

  • Patent number: 4393462
Abstract: An electronic translator comprises means for providing pronunciation of an input word or words entered. There are further provided means for providing pronunciation of a translated word or words equivalent to the input word or words. If the input words contain a special word which is pronounced in different ways dependent on the following word, there is additionally provided means for detecting the input of such a special word and for changing the pronunciation of such a special word depending on the following word.

  • Patent number: 4383306
Abstract: An electronic translator in which a first word or words represented in a first language are entered to obtain a second word or words represented in a second language but equivalent in meaning to the first word or words, comprises an input device for entering the first word or words, a memory for storing the second word or words, an access device for addressing the memory to cause retrieval of the second words or words corresponding in meaning to said first word or words, a detection device for detecting the kinds of the first language and the second language, and a display responsive to the detection device for displaying the kinds of the first language and the second language, the display means further displaying the second words or words.

  • Patent number: 4225890
Abstract: A magnetic tape recorder is disclosed which comprises a tape counter means for counting revolutions of a tape reel, a memory means for storing preselectable position information of a specific position on a tape, introduced via a keyboard means, and a decision logic means for determining if the output of the tape counter means and the output of the memory means agree. The operational state of the tape recorder is controlled in response to the output of the decision logic means so that record and play modes can be started or stopped with any preselectable position on the tape. Such capabilities are implemented with a digital processor semiconductor chip which normally includes a non-destructive memory program storage. In one preferred form, timepiece and/or timer functions are combined operatively with the tape counter means.

  • Patent number: 4020467
Abstract: A key entry and translation system useful with data processing units such as electronic calculators for the purpose of entering desired input information from a keyboard in a predetermined code notation into the data processing units. The present system is of a type wherein the input information from the keyboard is sensed and manipulated in an arithmetic circuit contained within a central processor unit (CPU) in response to program instructions stored in a read-only memory (ROM) and then is entered into the data processing unit through an input buffer contained within a random access memory (RAM). Pursuant to the present system, key entries may be registered during arithmetic operations or printing procedures, through the use of a CPU. Furthermore, the present system is adapted to determine whether the input information from the keyboard is either present or absent before interrogation as to the contents of the input information, for the purpose of speeding up arithmetic operations.
