  • Patent number: 4954846
Abstract: An original document detecting device includes at least a pair of elements made up of a light emitting element and a light receiving element oppositely arranged on both sides of an original placing platform which is used for placing an original document, for example, on a copying machine. When no original document is present on the platform, the light receiving element receives the light from the light emitting element. When an original document is placed on the platform, the light is interrupted because of the presence of the original document. The detecting apparatus is provided for detecting whether the light is received by the light receiving element or the light is interrupted by an original document. Because the light is interrupted, the presence or absence of the original document is detected.

  • Patent number: 4939377
Abstract: In an original document size detecting arrangement, one or more pairs of a light emitting element and a light receiving element are located on both sides of the original document platform so that the detection light emitted from the light emitting element travels to the light receiving element along the top surface of the original document platform spaced therefrom a predetermined value. Since the detection light travels along the surface of the original document platform, when an original document is placed on the platform, the detection light is interrupted by the original document. A detecting element is provided for detecting whether the detection light enters into the light receiving element or whether the detection light is interrupted so that the detecting element can generate a detection signal showing the size of the original document.

  • Patent number: 4733352
Abstract: In a lock control for a shared storage, each storage controller (SC) includes circuitry (LKA) for holding the addresses locked by any of the storage utilizing units connected thereto and circuitry (FLKA) for holding a copy of the contents of LKAs of the other SCs. When one storage utilizing unit connected to one SC issues a storage access request, its requested address is compared with the contents of the LKA and FLKA in the associated SC, thus determining whether or not the requested address is locked by any other storage utilizing unit connected to that particular SC or by any of the storage utilizing units connected to the other SCs. Each storage utilizing unit may include a FLKA.

  • Patent number: 4675811
Abstract: A multi-processor system includes a main storage and buffer storages of multi-layered hierarchy, which share the main storage. A plurality of storage controllers, each of which contains a first buffer storage, are connected with the main storage and at least one processor containing a second buffer storage is connected with each of said storage controllers. The directory of the first buffer storage contains an exclusive bit indicating whether the data existing in the first buffer storage are only one copy from the main storage or not and thus reduces the repetition of requests for the data coincidence control between different storage controllers. Each of said storage controllers contains a directory having the same content as that of the directory of the second buffer storage of the associated processor and effects the data coincidence control between different processors for store request produced in the processors.
