    Abstract: A highly reliable ceramics substrate which can sufficiently secure a bonding strength of a surface conductor in an initial state and after a lapse of time (e.g., after a PCT) is provided. The multilayer ceramics substrate has a surface conductor on at least one surface of a multilayer body constituted by a plurality of laminated ceramics substrate layers. A reaction phase formed by a reaction between a ceramics component in the ceramics substrate layers and a glass component in the surface conductor is deposited at an interface between the surface conductor and ceramics substrate layers. For example, an alumina filler in the ceramics substrate layers and Zn in the surface conductor react with each other, thereby forming ZnAl2O4 as the reaction phase.

    Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a composite wiring board, a through hole is formed in a sheet having a shrinkage-suppressing effect, and the through hole is filled with conductive paste to obtain a sheet for formation of a conductor. The sheet for formation of the conductor and a green sheet for a substrate in their laminated state are fired to obtain a ceramic substrate having a surface provided with a sintered metal conductor. A fired product of the sheet having the shrinkage-suppressing effect is removed from the surface of the ceramic substrate. Finally, a resin layer is formed on the surface of the ceramic substrate.

    Abstract: A borosilicate glass composition comprising 55-67 mol % of SiO.sub.2, 3-11 mol % of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, 16-26 mol % of B.sub.2 O.sub.3, and 3-11 mol % of at least one oxide of SrO, CaO, MgO and ZnO is useful in the preparation of ceramic substrates. Since the amount of orthoboric acid formed on the glass in contact with humid air is minimized, the glass gives rise to little trouble in the manufacture of ceramic substrates. Ceramic compositions using the glass and a filler can be fired at low temperatures into sintered substrates which are characterized by a low dielectric constant, low dielectric dissipation factor, and high flexural strength.

    Abstract: High-quality ceramic bodies suitable for use as a substrate of electronic devices can be prepared by sintering, at an outstandingly low temperature of 1000.degree. C. or below, a binary powder mixture composed of 30-50% by weight of a non-glassy phase of aluminum oxide and 70-50% by weight of a glassy phase having a quaternary composition composed of silicon dioxide, boron oxide, aluminum oxide and one or more of alkaline earth metal oxides, of which at least 60% by weight is strontium oxide, each constituent being formulated in a specified weight fraction. The ceramic body is particularly advantageous over conventional ones, along with the high mechanical strengths and low dielectric constant, in respect of the resistance against migration of metals therethrough when the ceramic body is in contact with metal-made parts such as electrodes.
