  • Patent number: 7699450
Abstract: An ink supplying container is disclosed. In the ink supplying container, when the internal pressure of an ink container is made a positive pressure which is higher than atmospheric pressure so that nozzles of a recording head are cleaned and recovered by discharging a small amount of ink, a volume control unit restrains a flexible member of the ink container from expanding. When the internal pressure of the ink container is made a negative pressure optimal for printing which is lower than the atmospheric pressure so that a letter and/or an image is printed on a recording medium by the recording head, the volume control unit does not restrain the flexible member from expanding, and the volume of the ink container is maintained at almost the same volume as that at the time when the internal pressure of the ink container is made the positive pressure.

  • Patent number: 7494205
Abstract: In a maintenance/recovery device for a liquid discharging device, a cap member covers a surface of a nozzle of a liquid discharging head, the liquid discharging head discharging a droplet of a recording liquid from the nozzle. A resilient contact member is provided in the cap member to come in contact with the surface of the nozzle. A recess-forming member is providing in the cap member to form a recess for receiving the recording liquid attracted from the nozzle. The contact member and the recess-forming member are integrally formed by molding, the recess-forming member is made of a resin material containing a water repellent agent, and the recess-forming member is provided to have at least two slopes being inclined toward an outlet at a bottom of the recess.

  • Publication number: 20080291240
Abstract: An image forming apparatus is disclosed. The image forming apparatus executes operations of idle ink ejection in which ink droplets not contributing to forming an image on a recording medium are ejected. When the operations of the idle ink ejection are executed before staring to print an image on a recording medium, the ink droplets are ejected into a cap member; in a case where the operations of the idle ink ejection are executed when a first predetermined period has passed after the last ejection of the ink droplets from the recording head, the ink droplets are ejected into an idle ink droplet receiving section; and in a case where the operations of the idle ink ejection are executed when a second predetermined period longer than the first predetermined period has passed as one of cleaning operations of the recording head, the ink droplets are ejected into the cap member.

  • Patent number: 7404615
Abstract: A maintenance and recovery device of a liquid droplet discharge apparatus improves a performance of discharging droplets of a liquid having a high-viscosity. A liquid droplet discharge head (34) discharges droplets of a recording liquid from a nozzle. A suction cap member (92a) caps a nozzle plane of the liquid droplet discharge head (34). An inclined surface (191) provides a slope toward an evacuation port (194) on a bottom of the suction cap member (92a). The inclined surface (191) forms an inclination angle with respect to a horizontal plane. The inclined surface is formed of a material having a contact angle with respect to the recording liquid. A sum of the inclination angle and the contact angle is equal to or larger than 70 degrees.
