    Abstract: The invention improves reliability relating to the operating environment temperature and the operating time of a processor for management in a disk array device mounting the managing processor for managing the state of the device, and further realizes mounting having no bad influence on the temperature environment within the disk array device. The disk array device uses a dedicated PC for industry in the processor for management, and is constructed such that the processor for management and a computer for output used to output management information of this processor for management are separated. Further, the processor for management and the computer for output are arranged within a disk array box body in positions for preventing no flow of a ventilating wind within the disk array box body.     Abstract: An apparatus for a disc type medium capable of performing smooth recording/reproducing operations while maintaining gaps between a cartridge and a disc type medium encased therein with a fixed accuracy. The cartridge is held and pressed between support members disposed on a base on which a disc driving spindle motor is mounted and a holder is moved down due to the biasing force of prestressed springs provided on the holder so that warping deformation of the cartridge is corrected. As a result, fixed gaps can be formed surely between an optical disc and the cartridge during operation, thereby making it possible to keep them out of contact with each other.

The cartridge insertion slot 2 has a double flap provided so that at least one part of the double flap closes the slot, preventing dust from entering through the cartridge slot 2 except when the cartridge is inserted in or ejected from the apparatus. The magnetooptical-disk recording and reproducing apparatus can record information of 1 GB/side or above on the disk.

    Abstract: A magnetic clamp for a disk medium comprises a disk medium table for holding a disk medium, a spindle which supports the disk medium table rotatably, a hollow-cylindrical inner magnetic core and ring-shaped outer magnetic core each disposed inside the disk medium table concentrically with the spindle, a linkage magnetic core for connecting the inner and outer cores, and a permanent magnet inserted in any of the cores. The three cores form a magnetic circuit so that the magnetic flux passing through the magnetic circuit has a direction which is virtually coincident with the direction of magnetization of the permanent magnet.
