    Abstract: A computer control system for a controlled apparatus such as an elevator executes operation with a plurality of standard programs corresponding to the conventional standard elevator relay circuits, the plurality of standard programs being stored in a ROM (Read Only Memory) device.The computer control system is equipped with a special program corresponding to at least one of the plurality of standard programs, and the special program is stored in a ROM device. If the elevator is to operate in a standard mode, the computer control system operates using only the standard ROM devices. If the elevator is to operate in a modified mode, the computer control system operates using the standard ROMs together with the special ROM, a control signal corresponding to this special ROM device being employed as a valid control signal. In both modes of operation, the standard program is not modified.

    Abstract: An elevator control system includes an ROM device having control data common to all elevator cars stored therein, and a setting device having a plurality of switches which are selectively closed and opened to designate the ordinal binary numbers of floors of a building served by an associated elevator car. When the building has many floors, the setting device may similarly designate the ordinal binary number of the lower ten floors and those of the remaining floors are additionally stored in the ROM device.

    Abstract: A control device for an elevator system in which an operating program for the elevator can readily be changed by the addition of a read-only memory containing only instructions needed for modifying control signals computed by a standard program. To the standard computerized control device of an elevator system is added a further read-only memory and a further random access memory. The read-only memory stores programs which modify the computational results produced as a result of executing the standard programs. The computational results produced by executing the standard programs are stored in the added random access memory, there modified as a result of executing the special program stored in the added read-only memory, and then transferred to another random access memory for transfer to the devices which perform the direct control of the elevator cage of the system.

    Abstract: An elevator control system for operating the cage of an elevator wherein the cage is run from one floor to the next floor at which it is to be stopped with a minimum amount of energy consumption. Energy consumption estimating circuits produce estimates of the amount of energy required for the cage to run to the next floor at which it is to be stopped for a plurality of different maximum cage speeds. The outputs of the energy consumption estimating circuits are coupled to a minimum value selecting circuit which determines which of the energy consumption estimating circuits has produced the lowest estimate. The elevator cage is then run at a speed profile and at a maximum speed chosen in correspondence with the minimum energy consumption.
