  • Patent number: 5900881
Abstract: A computer graphics circuit for rendering light-reflected images based on a bump-mapped Phong-shading model implemented fully in hardware, comprises a span processor, a bump-mapping circuit, a reverse-projection circuit, a bump-normal RAM, and Phong-shading circuit. The surface and bump normal of each polygon is defined by horizontal and vertical angles relative to the eye-point axis in device coordinates and to an axis perpendicular to a texture mapping coordinate, respectively. The trigonometric function tables used for rotation and shading computation have an angle-range around either a horizontal or vertical angle. The surface normal of horizontal and vertical angles is rotated by the bump normal and given rotated horizontal and vertical angles to the shading circuit. The shading circuit further comprises and accumulator for multiple light-sources and spot-lighting, which has no limitation of the number of light-sources.

  • Patent number: 5864344
Abstract: A computer graphics circuit for rendering light-reflected gaseous object comprising a Gaussian random number generator, a parametric free curve interpolation circuit, a primitive-normal computation circuit, a shading circuit and frame buffer. The primitive of gaseous object is generated by a random number generator and applied these primitives to shading circuit to calculate the light-reflection after defining a normal of each primitive. The primitive is distributed centering around parametric free curve. The primitive stored into frame buffer is read synchronizing with video scanning and synthesized with surface-defined object using a z comparator, amultiplexer, multipliers and filters for defining transparency effect between gaseous object and surface-defined object.

  • Patent number: 4088842
Abstract: A device for detecting position coordinates of patterns such as graphs and characters which are plotted on a drawing media. The device includes a tablet on which a plurality of conductive lines are installed parallel to each other, and a probe positionable for selecting a position coordinate. The probe comprises circular coils which are in a mutual inductive relation with the conductive lines. The device determines the coordinate of the probe relative to the tablet by selecting and filtering a mixed signal which is produced when scanning signals are applied to the conductive lines to induce signals in the probe coils. A wireless probe and a plurality of probes can be used on one tablet.
