  • Patent number: 5903401
Abstract: A reading unit provided with an optical system mounted on a recording apparatus to read a source document includes a housing having the optical system in it, a light transmitting portion arranged on the outer surface of the housing of the reading unit in order to guide the light outside the reading unit into the optical system of the reading unit, and a protection member to cover the outer side of the light transmitting portion for opening and closing such portion freely. With the structure thus arranged, the reading unit is protected from ink mist and other particles created by the recording apparatus that may contaminate the reading unit, hence preventing the accuracy of reading signals from being lowered when reading is performed by means of this reading unit.

  • Patent number: 4349852
Abstract: A sound dubbing control for a videotape recorder includes a mechanism which enables it to be automatically locked in operating condition when the playback control is subsequently actuated; the dubbing control is automatically released when the playback control is released. The dubbing control and playback control each include a slidable member one of which moves transversely with respect to the other and the member for the dubbing control is provided with a leaf spring having parallel arms. One of the arms has a hook-shaped end which catches on a projection on the playback member when the dubbing member is advanced into the path of the playback member. This action also causes the other arm of the spring to actuate a switch controlling the sound dubbing circuit.

  • Patent number: 4343024
Abstract: A video tape cassette of the type wherein a supply reel and a take-up reel are contained therein holds a magnetic video tape having transparent sections of tape at each end connected to a respectively one of the reels. A light-receiving element, or sensor, such as a phototransistor is incorporated into one of the positioning poles which enters into a cooperating opening in the cassette when it is put into position, and a light-emitting element, such as a light emitting diode is provided on the base outside of the cassette so that the end of the tape can be detected by the cooperative action of these two elements to automatically stop the running of the tape. Since the light-receiving element can be incorporated into the existing positioning pole, no additional space is required and the device can be incorporated into already existing video tape recorders. Obviously, the same results can be achieved if the phototransistor and light-emitting diode are interchanged.

  • Patent number: 4331988
Abstract: A mounting base to support and position a magnetic tape cassette on the chassis of a video tape recorder consists of a generally rectangular plate in which the supports for the cassette consist of marginal portions of the plate which are partially severed from the remainder of the plate and upwardly bent to contact the bottom of the cassette. The cassette is of the type in which the tape is carried by a pair of spools, and has an upwardly tiltable lid along one side to allow the tape to be withdrawn from operation. The cassette is first received in a mounting case which is vertically tiltably mounted on the recorder chassis. Spaces are provided in the base for the driving reels and the tape withdrawal mechanism of the recorder and when the case moves the cassette downwardly, the upwardly bent portions of the base plate flip open the lid and also properly level the cassette.
