  • Patent number: 11803270
Abstract: A touch panel includes arranged touch electrodes, and a driver IC connected to each of the touch electrodes. The plurality of touch electrodes is grouped into a plurality of groups such that electrodes belonging to different groups are included in a range smaller than an object to be detected, such as a finger. The driver IC alternately or sequentially applies a driving voltage to the touch electrodes of the plurality of groups, detects a capacitance of each of the sensor electrodes, and detects, based on the detected capacitance, whether there is a touch.

  • Patent number: 11783741
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel and a driver that drives the liquid crystal panel. The driver includes a control unit that executes a display process of displaying an image on the liquid crystal panel, a touch detection process of detecting a touch on the liquid crystal panel, and a line defect determination process of determining the presence of a line defect in the liquid crystal panel. In the line defect determination process, the control unit applies a drive signal to each sensor electrode, determines whether a detection value detected from each of the sensor electrodes when the drive signal is applied meets a predetermined determination criterion, and determines that the line defect has occurred when the sensor electrodes whose detection values meet the determination criterion among the plurality of sensor electrodes are linearly distributed.

  • Patent number: 8638283
Abstract: A timing controller is provided which is capable of achieving normal image display at a time of reverse scanning in upward and downward directions and right and left directions. In an image display device having a plurality of scanning line driving ICs (Integrated Circuits), a valid line counting section counts a count of valid driving lines based on a DE (Data Enable) signal and DCK (Dot Clock) signal. A cascade signal counting section counts up a total count of outputs from a count of VCK (Vertical Clock) signals including a VSP (Vertical Start Pulse) 2 output signal up to a VSP1 cascade outputting signal VSP1. A calculating section calculates an excessive output of a scanning line driving IC from a difference between the count of valid driving lines and the total count of outputs.

  • Patent number: 8264442
Abstract: A method of driving a display panel is provided which is capable of restoring normal operation to a timing controller in which an abnormality in display control has occurred. When a signal detecting section of one timing controller detects an abnormality that no signal is input or that a supply of a clock signal is stopped, the detected result is transferred from a two-way communicating section of the one timing controller to a two-way communicating section of the other timing controller. The other timing controller having received the detected result transfers a normal image signal and/or clock signal from the two-way communicating section of the other timing controller to the two-way communicating section of the one timing controller. The one timing controller exerts display control of a liquid crystal display panel according to the transferred image signal and/or clock signal.

  • Patent number: 7679619
Abstract: A data outputting method is provided which is capable of reducing a memory capacity of a LUT (Look-Up Table). Compressed data obtained by dropping low-order bits making up gray-level data is stored in a manner in which the compressed data can be accessed by high-order bits to be input to the LUT. High-order bits making up an address output from an address supplying unit are supplied to the LUT and low-order bits are supplied to a computing unit. The LUT outputs compressed gray-level data corresponding to the high-order bits and compressed gray-level data corresponding to data of (high-order bit+1). The computing unit outputs each of expanded gray-level data obtained by dividing data obtained by interpolation among one expanded gray-level data, another expanded gray-level data and, third expanded data for every high-order bit based on one compressed data, other compressed data, and lower-bits.

  • Publication number: 20080062102
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device employing an AC driving method is provided which is capable of minimizing a period of time during which a difference in magnitude between a positive voltage and a negative voltage relative to an intermediate potential occurs in gray-level reference voltages making up AC driving voltages when AC voltages are changed during operations of the liquid crystal display device by selecting an optimized order of outputting the gray-level reference voltages generated by a sequential switching method. An output switching control section is provided in a gray-level reference voltage generating section which outputs, at a time of changing the gray-level reference voltages during operations of the device, the gray-level reference voltage to a source driver in an order being different from an order of having received the gray-level reference voltage input from a same output voltage setting section after being sequentially switched.

  • Publication number: 20080024423
Abstract: A driving device for an LCD panel is provided which is capable of preventing the occurrence of light or dark shade among pixels during a non-writing period. All the pixels of the LCD panel are driven by each source driver to receive various signals from a control section and a reference voltage from a reference voltage generating section and each gate driver to receive a gate control signal from the control section using an AC voltage driving method. For a specified period of time after the ending of a writing period, a display data signal, an AC-DC voltage inverting control signal, a latch signal, and a reference voltage are fed to each source driver and an intermediate voltage of an AC driving voltage or a specified voltage is fed to data lines.

  • Publication number: 20060103639
Abstract: A display device is provided which is capable of, at time of driving a display panel section, preventing noise caused by components exhibiting a piezoelectric effect and of achieving silent operations and removal of unpleasant audible noise. When load variation for each line has an audio frequency component, noise occurs in components exhibiting a piezoelectric effect such as a capacitor. A load variation detecting unit totalizes input display data for every line and, when it is estimated from an amount of variation of the values and variation period that an amount of variation of driving load is large and a variation period is within an audio frequency range, produces a display pattern representing a variation period and instructs a driver controlling unit to permute order of driving lines. The driver controlling unit searches a table for a pattern to be used and changes the variation period to be out of the audio frequency range to prevent occurrence of audible noise.
