  • Patent number: 4677682
Abstract: A bill counting machine includes a holder for supporting bills thereon and suction heads for turning over the bills, one at a time, to count them. A projector is provided for emitting a ray of light onto the surface of each bill. A receptor is provided for detecting a ray of light reflected from the surface of the bill and for rectilinearly reading the surface pattern of the bill. The rectilinear reading allow judgments as to the denomination and obverse/reverse side of the bills.

  • Patent number: 4346289
Abstract: The device of the invention is assembled in a paper sheet counting apparatus to stop and held the suction heads at the predetermined positions at which one of the suction heads is precisely opposite to the face of the paper sheet in the face-to-face relationship. The suction heads are carried by a rotary cylinder having peripheral face on which a group of recesses each corresponding to each of the suction heads is formed. One of the recesses receives a pawl of a stopper when the rotary cylinder is stopped to terminate the paper sheet counting operation. The stopper is held at a retracted position when the counting operation is continued and moved to an engaging position when the one cycle counting operation is terminated. A slipping slope diverges from each recess outwards. The stopper is provided with an elongated hole in which a shaft is inserted, and the stopper is swinged about the shaft to be moved between the retracted position and the position to be engaged with one of the recesses.

  • Patent number: 4314147
Abstract: A multi-function type sheet counting machine capable of counting sheets under a desired operational mode selected from a plurality of operational modes. As the sheets to be counted are deflected one after another away from a stack of sheets, electrical count pulses corresponding to the number of deflected sheets are generated, and a count corresponding to the number of generated pulses is stored in a counter. A reset circuit is provided so that, at the time of changing over to the add mode from any other operational mode, the counter is automatically reset to clear the count previously stored in the counter.

  • Patent number: 4268024
Abstract: A bank note holding method for a counting machine which counts bank notes or the like. These bank notes are placed upon a holder and are clamped with a keep rod. The bank notes thus placed and clamped are forced into abutment contact with a plurality of suction cylinders, which are made operable to make planetary movements, so that they may be sucked and separated one by one by the suction cylinders, thus accomplishing counting operation. For this purpose, the bank notes are arranged uniformly on the holder, and then the keep rod is moved toward the holder by depressing a push button so that the bank notes may be forced into contact with and held upon the holder. The push button is then released so that the holder may be moved to its counting position thereby to start the counting operation. After this operation, the holder and the keep rod are returned to their respective initial positions.

  • Patent number: 4239204
Abstract: There is provided a paper counting machine wherein a stack of papers charged on a holder is sucked and deflected one sheet at a time by a number of suction shafts to be counted, characterized in that a counting section including the holder and the suction shafts is disposed within a recess formed on the top of the body of the machine, noise-proof covers are openably mounted on the body above the recess to seal or release the counting section, and the upper edges of the body in front of the recess is constructed to be in substantially a same horizontal plane as the upper surface of the supporting plate of the holder. Therefore, when the larger size papers are charged on the supporting plate with the covers opened, the portions of the lower edges of the larger size papers are supported on the upper edges of the body. In the case of the small size papers, the papers can be counted with the covers closed.

  • Patent number: 4231564
Abstract: A paper sheet holding device for holding and bringing paper sheets to a paper sheet counter of suction type. The holding device includes two base plates, one of which is stationary whereas the other is rotatable and both of which are used to bear thereon the paper sheets in an upright position. Further inclusive are an upright holder plate, which is carried in an upright position on the rotatable base plate for holding the back of the paper stack, and a holder arm which is made coactive with the holder plate for holding the paper sheets. A pair of telescopic pipe rods are telescopically received in the holder plate and in the holder arm so that they may be pulled out to and retained at a preset height. Thus, the pipe rods can be extended to prevent the paper sheets from being hung even if the paper sheets are too wide for the height or heights of the holder plate and arm as they are.

  • Patent number: 4227073
Abstract: Herein disclosed is a check number counter device for use with a paper counting machine, by which sheets of paper are counted while being sucked and taken off (or deflected) one by one with the use of rotatable suction cylinder. The check number counter device includes an AND gate which is made responsive to both a coincidence signal indicating that the number checking operation is terminated and the operation terminating signal indicating that the operations of the suction cylinders are terminated so that it may generate a gate output, when it receives both the coincidence signal and the operation terminating signal, but may not generate the gate signal when it receives the latter signal but not the former signal. Further inclusive is a check number counter which is made responsive to the gate signal of the AND gate so that it may count the checked number.

  • Patent number: 4227074
Abstract: A counting section shielding device for shielding the counting section of a paper sheet counting machine including a paper holder for holding paper sheets to be counted, a plurality of rotatable suction cylinders carried on a suction drum for sucking the paper sheets one by one so as to count the number of the same. The counting machine includes a comparator for comparing the actual counted number of the paper sheets with a preset number. The shielding device includes a pair of sound-proof covers which can be opened to provide easy access to the inside of the counting section so that the paper holder may be charged with the paper sheets and which can be closed to extend above the counting section so that this section may be shielded to prevent escape of noise and dust.
