    Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for measuring the vital functions of a patient, which apparatus comprises at least a measuring chair (20) or a corresponding means suitable for sitting, which measuring chair further comprises one or more measuring sensors (2, 3, 6, 7) for measuring one or more vital functions of the patient sitting in the measuring chair, in a non-invasive manner from the outside of the patient's body. According to the invention, said one or more measuring sensors (2, 3, 6, 7) are placed in the structures of the measuring chair (20) in a substantially unnoticeable way, and the measuring chair (20) is preferably designed to resemble an ordinary chair intended for non-medical use, or a corresponding furniture-like means suitable for sitting. By means of the invention, it is possible to reduce the distortion caused by fear of doctors in the measurement results.
