Patent number: 5335802Abstract: The closure (1) consists of a tubular base portion (2) and a cap (3). Considered in the direction of the axis (17) of the base portion (2), in the closed position the outer contour of the cap (3) is within the interior contour of the base portion (2). Cap and base portion are connected to each other in a single unit by a snap hinge and injection molded in a closed position. Extending from the snap hinge, cap and base portion are additionally connected together by a safety strap (40), which is to safeguard against unintentional premature opening of the closure (tamper evidence). The closure enables a marked productivity increase during manufacture.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1992Date of Patent: August 9, 1994Assignee: Creanova AGInventors: Ulrich Brach, Klaus Thanisch

Patent number: 4717018Abstract: A unitary snap hinge made of plastic with two hinge parts which are connected with each other by means of a main joint. A flexible connecting piece is connected with the hinge parts by means of secondary joints, whereby the secondary joints have a distance from the main joint transverse to the joint axis and that the joints are designed as film joints. The hinge parts have the tendency to snap into the one or other end position from a position of an unsteady balance within their own pivot range. The snap hinge is a separate structural element. The one hinge part supports a locking element for a removal opening, the other hinge part supports at least one adapter piece with arresting elements. Thereby, the snap hinge can be mounted on a container or on the locking piece of the same.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1986Date of Patent: January 5, 1988Assignee: Boehringer Mannheim GmbHInventors: Klaus D. Sacherer, Erich Weiss, Jochen Koehn, Ulrich Brach

Patent number: 4572412Abstract: A container, in particular a bottle, made of a plastic which can be elastically deformed. The container has a pipe for filling and removing the contents. The container has a part which can be folded in in its main part or in its shoulder section. The pipe can be brought into an inclined position relative to the axis of the container by a folding-in operation, by which the container contents can be emptied or poured out at an angle while the container is held vertical but upside down.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 1984Date of Patent: February 25, 1986Assignee: Zeller Plastik Koehn, Graebner & Co.Inventors: Ulrich Brach, Wilhelm Wiesinger

Patent number: 4562931Abstract: The invention concerns an original-seal closure means made of plastic and for threaded mouths at containers, in particular bottles. The closure means includes a screw cap to which a hood is fastened with axial play. Studs are present at both the hood and the screw cap, which can be engaged and disengaged within the said axial play and which act as drive means. To secure the original seal, the screw cap is provided with tear-off elements which engage by means of claws underneath the retainer lip. When the mouth is sealed, the claws are held in this position by the hood. When the closure is opened the first time, the tear-off elements are perforce torn off. In additional child-proof design, a set of studs is designed in such a manner that they shall always act as drive means during the screwing shut process while they shall act thusly during unscrewing only if in addition to the torque an axial force is exerted toward the mouth.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 1984Date of Patent: January 7, 1986Assignee: Zeller Plastik, Koehn, Grabner & CoInventors: Ulrich Brach, Alois Persch

Patent number: 4480759Abstract: Child-proof turn-lock closure of plastic material for threaded mouths on containers, particularly on bottles, with a screw cap closure on which an outside cap is clamped with axial play, both of which caps are provided with projections or projections and grooves which, within the axial play, can engage in each other, those sides of the projections or grooves which touch each other when the cap is screwed down being made as carriers, while those sides of the projections or grooves which touch each other when the cap is screwed off act as wedges, and in such a way that, when being screwed down, the screw cap is carried by the outside cap but when being screwed off this only happens when an axial pressure is exerted on the outside cap and directed against the container, wherein recesses are provided in the face of the screw cap, which are covered by a gas- and liquid-impermeable inlay cover. The closure is particularly suitable for bottles containing hypochlorite.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1982Date of Patent: November 6, 1984Assignee: Lever Brothers CompanyInventors: Rainer Behrens, Dieter Peissl, Jurgen Schondelmayer, Ulrich Brach

Patent number: 4126240Abstract: A unitary, integrally-formed, molded plastic closure used to seal containers having threaded necks and a radially extending collar situated therebelow. Closure includes internally threaded cap, plurality of tongues spaced about lower periphery of cap, frangible tamper indicating ring spaced axially below lower periphery of cap, and a plurality of thin webs interconnecting the ring and the tongue. Closure is advanced over the threaded neck on container by automated machinery so that ring abuts against collar on container. Indicating ring includes weakened area to allow limited radial expansion, and an inwardly extending radial flange may be defined at upper end of ring. Lugs are formed on periphery of tongues. After ring abuts against collar, continued advancement of the closure along threaded neck (1) shears the webs and frees the tongues from the ring; (2) subsequently enables the tongues to engage and enter the ring in serial fashion, and (3) resiliently interlocks the ring and the tongues.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1976Date of Patent: November 21, 1978Assignee: Zeller PlastikInventor: Ulrich Brach
