    Abstract: According to the teachings of the present invention there is provided an elastic smart garment. The garment includes an elastic tubular form having variable elasticity and at least one conductive textile electrode, for sensing electrical vital signals, such as a clinical level ECG signal. The garment further includes at least one elastic and loose conductive stripe, having a first end and a second end. The first end of the at least one conductive stripe is securely attached to a respective conductive textile electrode, and the second end of the at least one conductive stripe is operatively connected with a processor. The elasticity and looseness of the at least one conductive stripe is configured to prevent a pulling force from being applied to the respective conductive textile electrode, when the garment is stretched. When a conductive stripe is stretched by up to 15%, its resistance increases by less than 25%.

The processor is adapted to obtain some or all of the sensed data via a communication interface such as HDMI. The docking station and the smart garment may be interconnected using complementary conductive snap buttons. The docking station may include a defibrillator protection device to protect the monitoring system from an electric current or voltage surge.
