  • Patent number: 10797753
Abstract: A communication device in a communication network includes at least one processor. The processor is configured to identify a first management information base (MIB) of a first occupied channel in the communication network, and a second MIB of a second occupied channel in the communication network adjacent the first occupied channel. The second occupied channel occupies a frequency band overlapping with an interfering signal band. The processor is further configured to calculate at least one proactive network maintenance (PNM) metric for each of the first and second MIB, and determine, from the calculated PNM metric, that an ingress of the interfering signal is detected on the second occupied channel.

  • Patent number: 10771146
Abstract: Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to providing redundancy for satellite uplink facilities using software-defined networking (“SDN”). According to one aspect disclosed herein, a satellite network system can include a video collection facility (“VCF”), a remote uplink facility (“RUF”), and a diverse uplink facility (“DUF”) in direct communication with a core network. An SDN controller that operates in an SDN network that provides logical SDN links to the VCF, the RUF, the DUF, and the core network. The SDN controller can track a site configuration of the RUF. The SDN controller can detect that the RUF has been downed due to an adverse event such as inclement weather. The SDN controller can obtain the site configuration of the RUF. The SDN controller can cause a redundant remote uplink facility (“RRUF”) to be instantiated with the site configuration of the RUF.

  • Publication number: 20180262559
Abstract: In one example, the present disclosure describes a device, computer-readable medium, and method for automating the end-to-end deployment of applications in a data center. For instance, in one example, a set of characteristics is extracted from an electronic signal. The set of characteristics pertains to an application to be deployed in a data center. A load balancer on which to deploy the application is automatically selected, based at least in part on the set of characteristics. A workflow is automatically generated for deployment of the application on the load balancer. The workflow coordinates actions among a plurality of computing resources of the data center that are used to configure the application according to the set of characteristics.

  • Patent number: 9813922
Abstract: A system and method for resource management in a heterogeneous wireless network wherein the resources of the mobile communications system are managed on a coarse time-scale and a fine time-scale. The coarse time-scale management comprises a first stage of determining the user association for each of the plurality of TPs followed by a second stage of determining activation fractions for all TPs. The determining of the user association is performed by utilizing a GLS procedure having a Greedy Stage and a Local Search Stage. In the Greedy Stage, new user, TP pairs are analyzed and the pair with the greatest improvement in system utility is selected. In the Local Search Stage, potential swaps are analyzed and a pair offering the greatest improvement that exceeds a threshold is selected. • Patent number: 9510060
Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method provide the ability to process media content streams. A primary and backup multiplexer are each configured to receive and multiplex multiple video streams to output IP multicast streams with unique unicast addresses. A primary and backup uniform transport processing system (UTPS) join the IP multicast streams and output each stream using a unique multicast group. Multiple virtual local area networks (VLANs) separate the joins of the primary UTPS from the joins of the backup UTPS. Primary and backup modulators join the IP multicast streams output from the primary or backup UTPS and convert the joined stream to radio frequency for uplink to a broadcast distribution network.

  • Patent number: 9313532
Abstract: A system for securely communicating callback signals to a head end includes a callback server and a user device communicating a request to open a callback session to the callback server. The callback server opens a first session between the callback server and a user device. The user device communicates an encrypted callback data signal to the callback server through the first session. The callback server opens a second session between the callback sever and a conditional access system associated with a head end, verifies the callback data signal at callback server, and communicates the encrypted callback data signal to the conditional access system through the second session. The conditional access system decrypts the encrypted callback data signal to form decrypted callback data.

  • Patent number: 9191336
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assigning processing requests is disclosed. The method is typically used in a processing system comprising a first processing center and one or more second processing centers remote from the first processing center, a. A method of assigning a processing request may comprise the steps of: determining at a traffic distribution controller a capacity of each of the processing centers to process the processing request, accepting a processing request in the first processing center, and assigning the processing request to at least one of the second processing centers according to the determined current capacity of each of the processing centers. The processing request is initially addressed to a first global address of the first processing center, then the processing request is readdressed to a second global address of one of the second processing centers.

  • Patent number: 9131477
Abstract: A system and method for addressing RLC unrecoverable errors experienced by User Equipment (UE) in a wireless network help the network to resolve the errors without shifting the UE into an Idle mode and dropping voice calls. A measurement event provides the buffer occupancy and identifies the affected radio bearer to the network. If the state of the bearer is not changed, the UE provides a Signaling Connection Release Indication message or a Radio Bearer Release Indication message to the network, the latter message identifying the radio bearer to be released without taking down the entire signaling connection for the domain.

  • Patent number: 9049217
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for providing high availability (HA) capability with a plurality of storage servers, which may be virtual storage servers (VSSs), in a shared-nothing storage environment. The technique uses a proxy mechanism to route requests originating at one storage server to an HA partner storage server, where the proxy is implemented inside a VSS logically below the RAID layer. The technique also involves distributing non-shared storage devices “owned” by a storage server so that existing storage device-based heartbeat and fencing mechanisms can function unmodified for HA VSSs in shared-nothing environments. For example, a third, external host can be used to provide and export its non-shared storage to first and second storage servers, where the first and second storage servers do not own the non-shared storage on their local physical host machine.

  • Patent number: 8819339
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for non-disruptive migration of data between storage on hosts that do not share storage with each other. Aggregate relocation is enabled to operate between the hosts in the absence of shared storage connectivity. The technique includes mirroring an aggregate from storage of a first host to storage of a second host by using a sub-RAID level proxy in each of the first and second hosts to proxy data communications between the hosts. The proxy is used in lieu of the mirroring application in the first host having direct access to the storage devices of the second host. The technique further includes relocating the aggregate from the first host to the second host.
