    Abstract: The subject invention concerns methods for preventing and/or treating neurodegenerative conditions associated with Abeta peptide accumulation in neural tissue in a human or animal. The subject invention also concerns methods for preventing or treating Alzheimer's disease-like neuropathology in a person or animal having trisomy 21 (Down's syndrome). In one embodiment, a method of the invention comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound that inhibits function or activity of a Raf protein to a person or animal in need of treatment.
